Want to know what Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East really think about the conflict? Ask a question and I will get answers.

People ask Israeli Jews questions. I go out and ask random people to answer. Pegelatrin from the UK asks: "What do religious Israelis think secular people think of them?"

Reform and Conservatives can believe and say what they want. I'm a ultra orthodox and i respect jews who don't follow the whole torah.

I am not religious so I don't know the status of women in the Torah. I know that men are obligated to do more religious commandments than women. Men say it is because women are already higher spiritually than men. Some women don't believe them. So she is talking about that men and women cannot pray together, touch each other. She wants to change that.

without oral torah, we have no clue HOW to do holidays, prayers, rituals, pretty much anything.

the written torah says to do things, but in very vague language. for example, it says to put a sign between your eyes. (it's referring to tefillin/philacteries)

but it doesn't say how, made of what, when, who, why, etc etc.

the oral torah explains all of that (ie the Talmud). when the Nazis went into houses, the first things they went after on bookshelves were Talmud books.

women are not lower. i think she meant that secular people think that this is the case...but in reality, it's not.

as for status of women in the Torah...we had some of the biggest prophets be women. without a woman, the man could do nothing.

Abraham could only move a muscle if Sarah said so.

there is written torah (5 books of moses) and oral torah, passed down generation to generation ie the Mishna...which was not supposed to be written down...but it eventually was because there was a risk of losing it because people began to forget oral torah.

and thus, it became the written Talmud. it consists of the Mishnas...ie the laws and the gemarras...which are the arguments/conversations between the sages on each Mishna.

this is how we figure out the logic behind our laws. we delve deep.

Islam is an amalgamation of Judeo-Christian texts and customs with the native culture. Obviously there would be similarities.

dude it's no use speaking to some people. anti-semites have built something up for themselves...and anti-religious people also have a framework in their heads about us.

the only opinion that matters is G-d's opinion. we just gotta do our thing and let shamayim take care of what comes later.

for those who don't know, the word 'shamayim' means 'heaven' in hebrew but direct translation is two words: sham mayim...meaning "the waters are there" or “there, the waters are.”

I come from a Jewish religious family and as Corey Gil-Shuster said if there is a difference, then the difference is that men do more commandments than women . But a woman has things she needs to do and man does not need do.
Anyway a woman can do all the commandments if she like to do them.(may be not all but 99% of them for sure)

Just like in Islam they say women are given a higher place by keeping her at home where she doesn't have to work and exhaust herself. Religious people are in denial...
