For all the people commenting on making the vehicles weigh the same (last time everybody complained they didn’t…it’s impossible to please everybody), the numbers at the end of the video were offered as both laden and unladen, so you can see the timing differences there with no additional weight.

Hi Paul. I have a 2021 Mahindra Pik up single cab, 2wd. Completely stock standard, on factory wheels and tyres, and I think it will leave that LandCruiser 2.8 for dead. I live in Fairfield NSW and we have lots of brand-new Hilux and LandCruisers around here who are always keen for a bit of a drag race and they can never keep up with the Mahindra. As for the Toyota V8 - such a pointless car, a complete slug.

The Mahindra is punching well above its weight👍

Don’t understand why you handicapped the Mahindra with extra weight. Makes no sense.

Actually pleasantly surprised by the mahindra. The old mahindra tractors do last forever.

Handicapping only works if you match the power to weight ratio. This means stripping weight from the Mahindra ( removing spare tyre, removing passenger seat, and the tray i guess ). You have a V8 v a straight 4, which is unfair.

Hi Paul- I’ve been enjoying your reviews on the 2.8 70.

Test option 1:
79 2.8 vs SR5 Hilux both at their respective max GCM. (79 series -7010kg vs SR5 - 5650kg)

Test option 2:
2.8 70 vs 4.5 79 both at max factory GCM 7010kg.

Appreciate it.

That Mahindra is doing really well. I think I will buy one, certainly as good as an Land Cruiser for a fraction of the price.

The landcruiser V8 is not designed for speed. It is to handle weight

I don’t think you need to match the kerb weight. It’s not like they’re the same car like 79 and the 76. I reckon you should’ve kept the weights stock cause the Mahindras lighter stock

The poor old V8 just cant win a trick... 🤣

Why match kerb weight? Match power to weight accurate comparison

Load hauling video made no sense, a smaller lighter vehicle was loaded to its maximum versus a bigger heavier vehicle carrying the same load ...both should have been maxed.

If the Mahindra had a solid front axle, I’d actually consider buying one

A cool video, although I think it's unfair loading the Mahindra. But that said I'd never buy either. Had a few 70 series in our company fleet and the only good thing is that they're reliable and have a rigid chassis. Everything else though they suck. Although they were much better than the rangers we had. 6 rangers and each one had major breakdowns. I hate rangers with a burning passion. Will never buy another one.

It was only around ten years ago I was watching HSV vs FPV drag races.

Fast forward ten years im watching a Mahindra drag a 70 series.

Is this what it has come to. FML

Maybe an unladen standing start and role race before adding weight? Wounder if the Mahindra was closer to the 70 unladen?

Maybe James Wong is a talented drag racer and that is why he always wins regardless of vehicle? I went to high school with another student in my year level who also had the name 'James Wong' he was in that group of students with the best talent for sports, I don't know if he is the same James Wong who went to Doncaster Secondary College during 1992 and 1993?
