Ballet dancers: I didn't do that for a video, but my teacher made me do it...

I had huge calves compared to most people but because I wanted to become more huge I started doing Body Weight Standing Calf Raises of 300 reps after 2 or 3 months my calves were more defined but lost their size.

After that, I stopped doing it and it started to grow back.

So then I decided to try this with more weight and a moderate amount of reps it was then I saw growth in calves.

What I learned is that calves are stubborn muscles that could handle a lot of endurance because we walk with them every day, to work the calves you should add weights and do a moderate amount of reps.

It helps with jumping a ton. I think it was Shaq who did 1000 ever day and it made him able to dunk. Imagine being that big and flying. It must be an underrated workout

This challenge was build to fail in terms of growth:
1. No overload
The calves are already strong enough to support your bodyweight all day while walking/running/jumping. They get exhausted when you do calve raises, but the weight is too low for an adaption by growth. This is a strength endurance workout, not a hypertrophy one.
2. No rest
If you train a muscle every day without rest it has no time to grow. Even if the weight is too low for growth stimulus as pointed out before, there will be exhaustion and damage that needs to heal. Not every muscle damage leads to growth! That's something a lot of people get wrong.

So I guess they gained some calve strength after this, but for everyone trying to achieve some strength and growth in a specific muscle, these every day challenges are probably not be the best way.

Overworking a singular muscle every single day with literally no rest days...yeah not surprised there were no results.

Little to no results because the body *NEEDS* recovery. Remember to let your body rest people. And listen to your body too. Even after a rest day if you still have intense soreness work a different part

training a muscle while it’s sore isn’t only pointless but also dangerous

I used to do this weird thing when I was a kid where I would walk up stairs while on my tiptoes, and it honestly made my calves so strong lmfao

I feel your pain. I’m a volleyball player and for conditioning we do hundreds of these and my calves got huge.😢😅

I did 400 on each leg in my PE class and we only had 15 minutes. It hurt but I got the top score out of all of the classes

I'm that lucky guy who was born with great leg genes. It wasn't so funny when I was 12, with muscular, hairy legs, but now I enjoy them very much. "Watching the bodybuilders train so hard." 😂

Doing calf raises and jumping rope one summer helped me to be able to dunk the following season.
