Lived in Germany a few years, don't plan on leaving. Went to the states last October and without even thinking about it or looking for it, I was in a Walmart and single person within my line of site....was morbidly obese. I felt like a foreigner coming to America for the first time. Of course you hear the stereotype and as an American just acknowledge it and brush it off but damn its weird to see it with fresh eyes. As a German living in Germany, I rarely visit a McDonald's, because I don't find the food tasty at all. Now I find it hard to imagine how McDonald's food in America must taste!!

My wife and I had the reverse experience. We lived in Nürnberg for two years, right up to last July. Although the two McDonalds in the city center weren't bad for the first little bit (and during business trips the previous 5 years), it went downhill pretty fast. Having worked at the Golden Arches when I was in high school, I have observed over the years that the store management and staff make all the difference in the world. Sounds like you had a winner in Schwäbisch Hall.

I find food at German McDonald's already poor (compared with the American diner meals they try to immitate)
- I can't image that even a worse version of it exist.
