Debt ceiling vote passes in the House

House Republicans have narrowly passed a bill to raise the nation's debt ceiling. But even party leaders acknowledge the bill is nowhere close to becoming law. The House bill increases the debt limit by $1.5 trillion -- while at the same time imposing an array of spending cuts to the federal budget. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more.

Many Americans have had to cut their budgets, some are now homeless, so why shouldn't the government that is supposed to represent "We the People ? " Maybe, they should cut their own salaries, to pay their fair share of a deficit they created.

I have a question. Who is that trillions of debt owed to? Plus, another question. Why does the USA have billions of aid to give to other countries, but whenever a new law is being debated to be implemented. Suddenly, the US doesn't have enough money in the budget to be able to afford to fund whatever is trying to be implemented, in an attempt to try to better the lives of others.
