After two generations, the petite iPhone is gone, aside from Apple selling last year's iPhone 13 Mini at a discounted price. But we see a way for the iPhone Mini to return to Apple's lineup. Here's how

In my dreams, Apple has released an iPhone Mini Pro!

I have the 13 Mini, and love it. There's really nothing about it that I feel a need to upgrade.
The market for smaller phones is probably too small to justify both SE and Mini models, so it's no surprise that Apple would ditch one of the two. The 13 Mini has room for a bigger battery than the 8 body has, so it's the obvious form factor if Apple is going to keep a small phone in the lineup. SE 4th gen, 14 Mini, 15 Mini ... I don't care what they call it, so long as it exists.

I think Apple should have kept the Mini and I hope they bring it back with the 15 mini or 16 mini. The mini has 2 important purposes. It appeals to the small phone lovers (Japan) and it means the starting price of the newest iPhone model is $699 not $799.

I really like this theory and it makes a lot of sense. I just ordered the 13 mini it’s on its way to me now! I think apple knows that not everyone wants a giant screen nor feel big phones should be the norm. Let’s not forget how phones used to be much smaller back in the day and got progressively bigger. My reason for choosing a smaller phone after using the iPhone XR for a few years is simple, the larger the screen the more of a distraction it is in one’s life. So I love the idea of a “smaller” screen if you want to call it that.

iPhone mini is a workhorse. Love that it fits in any pocket easily.

I upgraded to a 512GB 13 mini a few months ago, from my 12 Pro Max, after strong rumors of no 13 mini. I'm really enjoying all the important features in a compact size.

I hope they go with the mini version too! I’m a huge fan of the SE and like a smaller phone!

Just got my 12 Mini, and this feels like the future. Haven't personally kept up with iPhone's since SE, so I was hoping the Mini was a new standard from them. Hopefully they course correct because the demand is there. I can see myself moving up to the latest Mini and sticking with it for the foreseeable future, but knowing Apple they'll lock you out of using it sooner rather than later.

I would love the next SE to be based on the 13 mini. I use the 12 Pro and am tired of lugging the weight around. Recently used my dad’s 6s and it was so light and handy!!!

Edit-: Replaced my 12Pro with the 13 mini and couldn’t be happier for it.

I had a 12 mini and just got the 13 mini after the 14 lineup announcement. Using that form factor for a future SE makes sense from a size perspective, but I think apple will probably go with the Xr/11 form factor instead, but that's just a gut feeling.

Just picked up a refurbished 12 mini and really enjoying it. Form factor is just right to be used single handed; cameras and performance is nothing to worry about. It’s a keeper and a solid upgrade from iPhone 7+.

Hoping the mini/se line continues. The mini is by far the best phone I've used. Came from a note 8 to an s9 before returning to iKingdom with the 12 mini. I just can't stand big phones anymore. I'd also like to see the mini get the dynamic island in the future. It would make a lot of sense to actually interact with the island give the mini sized screen

Just give us a mini every 3 years or something. Never understood why people want to walk around with giant phones that can only be operated with two hands.

I just bought an iPhone 13 Mini Red yesterday! Incredible phone! Perfect size. There is nothing like it. I upgraded from the first iPhone SE (6 years!!). Since the iPhone 13 Mini has the same processor of the 14, the lifespan will be at least another 5 years.

I have 12 mini since it launched & I love the practical form factor of mini. Was thinking of upgrading to 14 mini but it was a big disappointment😔. Will Love to see a feature packed Mini lineup coming again🤩. Thanks @CNET for giving us hope😜👍🏻.

I sure hope so, I love my 13 mini. I can see myself using it until it breaks. It's the perfect form factor for me.

That’s an exciting possibility that the mini might become the new SE

Let’s hope they use the mini form

I have a 14 pro on the way but I still like to change things up and use a smaller phone it’s fun just —different

Im rocking an Iphone 13 mini for a couple of months now, and its a breath of fresh air, , after bulky phones like XR, XS its a amazing experience.
Everytime i have a 13 pro or Max in my hands, i envy the 120hz but besides that it really feels bulky and clumsy to have such big phones.

This can be a possibility if the mini sales increase. I wouldn’t mind if they increase it’s thickness around 20% to incorporate big battery capacity.

With iPhone 13 mini internals, the new SE wouldn't be cheap enough. So in order to keep the cost down, Apple would either go with XR or 11 as the next SE (larger phones with bigger battery and LCD display etc)
