This worked better than I would have expected. 90% of the time I would suggest that one go with a proxy workflow though. Takes less time than people would assume, and makes the editing process buttery smooth. I mostly edit on Resolve, Premiere and Avid though, so the FCP X workflow may differ

What timing! YouTube recommended this video to me right after I ordered my 13" MacBook Pro (upgraded to 16gb in ram). Last week I had to say goodbye to my poor lil 2014, 13" MacBook Air when it crashed while I was editing my first ever video (rip), I'm happy to see I made the right choice with my upgrade. Can't wait to receive it and finally dive in to some uninterrupted editing!

Spoiler: if the iPhone SE can be your only editing computer, the base MacBook Pro can probably be your only editing computer :) But Gary, what about all those poor souls editing on Premiere Pro, I'm sure it will not work as well.

Thank you for this video. I am new to YouTube. Just started my channel in January. I do EVERYTHING on my iPad with iMovie and can see as I grow that I may need to upgrade and looking at some that are refurbished. Or going to wait for the M1.
