Porsche Centre Preston lent me a Porsche Taycan 4S for a couple of days. The car is amazing, but there's no way I could use it for a driving school car!

A video on this car has Taycan me by surprise.

If everyone drives like this guy and had the same attitude to life. The roads would be 10x safer and the world would be a better place.

Would I like to drive one for half a day?…. Yes
Would it put a smile on my face?…. Yes.
Would I own one? … NOT IN A MILLION BLOODY YEARS

Great car review video with some bonus tips for driving from the best instructor on YouTube!

I do a mix of town driving and motorway driving so I'm sticking with the self charging hybrid for now until our electric infrastructure in UK is improved.

I've got the Lexus RC300H and its width is 2069 mm (including mirrors). Luckily I have driven alot of vans and I just think "can I drive a van down that space?"

Just a shame some other people have no idea how wide their cars are 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for this episode Ashley. You've helped me no end to avoid Porsche envy and reinforced my decision to keep the Tesla Model 3 Long Range a little longer as a tuition car! Mind you, there's an awful lot of Porsche Taycans around here in Cheltenham. Was following two of them back from LIDL earlier this morning. No doubt saving money on the children's food to pay for the car! 😊

Boost and launch mode…after all the e-bike reviews lately I was waiting for you to have a joke with “…it gives assistance up to 15.5mph after which the electric assist stops and you are on your own” 😁

I just watched every minute of this. This is a definitive review - doesn't get any better than this. Well done Ashley - you show a lot of car reviewers how it should be done.

Watching you do that 30-60mph test was like watching a child open a great present at Christmas and be blown away by it. Great video and a very nice car, I may have book my self on a track day somewhere to have a go in one.

I teach in a Mini Cooper electric and my pupils love it. Personally it’s the best thing I’ve ever driven.

Nice driving. A bit of fun yet never putting others in danger. Imagine turning up at learners house to give them a lesson in one of them.

I still don't subscribe to the whole "power is a safety feature" argument. Once you have performance around 10s for 0-60mph you have enough to merge with traffic etc. Yes, fast acceleration is "enabling", but if it is enabling you to get out of trouble then it's probably trouble that you got yourself into in the first place. Certainly from a personal perspective, in 30 years with a driving license i have only once had to accelerate out of trouble that i didn't initially accelerate myself into.

I've been lucky enough to drive a Taycan Turbo a couple of times....

Fastest thing. Ever. Ridiculous that average Dave can own something so fast.. amazing technology. Made my 1200cc feel like a scooter in comparison. The throttle response as in electric cars. Woah.

Remember that depreciation is region-specific. The UK has historically always had high depreciation - 50% in 3 years was always normal. But here in Norway 50% in 5 years is the norm. And EVs follow that, because they remain popular here. But in the UK the poor infrastructure and natural reticence of the brits when it comes to change combine to depress EV residual values a lot.

The amount of respect you get from other road users driving The Porsche Taycan 4S is incredible.
The driver in the white van would have closed in if you driving a Focus.
Brilliant video .

Great review and seriously considering on of these, the taycan 2 has improved both performance and economy. The the point of not buying one, they make a fantastic used buy just make sure you have a warranty

This video is why I like my Kona N so much. It has power, probably comparable to the Focus ST so you’ll know it shifts but there’s so much more to it than just that. In N mode it has both exhausts going with the valves opened so it sounds great, pops and bangs on command. It has a bit of torque steer which adds to the excitement. It can handle itself in the corners thanks to the E-diff and the sports suspension (that will be the end of my back). It’s a car that you can have fun with whilst keeping it legal. Accelerating up to 60 in second then having it pop on the gear change is fun. The sound is so important to that fun factor I think. Missing it in an electric removes so much especially that fun factor.

Great review, cheers for posting this. Beautiful machine, almost enough to turn me off petrol. 😁
Always looked at how low and long these are and thought surely they must foul on speed bumps, but the ones I've seen where likely in the lowered eco-mode so, good to know!
