Did you know that the Eiffel Tower can slightly change in size depending on the weather? The metal the tower is made of is sensitive to variations in the ambient temperature, by extending when the temperature is high, and by contracting when the temperature is low. For example, when the sun heats one of the 4 sides of the Tower, this side extends and slightly increases in height, which causes Tower to leans in the opposite direction. In this way, during the sunny day, the top of Tower can make a rough circle measuring approximately 15 centimeters (6 inches) in diameter.
