From the pompous opening bars all the way through to the frivolous finale, Bach’s Orchestral Suite no. 2 in B minor, performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach, is a mouth-watering piece of music. And that applies literally to the flautist, who has to keep proving his worth with no respite whatsoever.

Netherlands Bach Society,
Shunske Sato, violin and direction
Marten Root, traverso

The more I'm watching the videos from this incredible project of the Netherlands Bach Society the more I think that it is one of the most ambitious ever seen on the internet. I thank you with all my heart for delighting us with such brilliant performances and such sublime music by our beloved BACH !

Whenever I feel pessimistic about the problems of humanity, like the destruction of the planet, endless wars, or creeping fascism, I listen to Bach and his music gives me hope. Vielen Dank, Herr Bach!

Hella impressed with Marten Root. To be playing this music for 20 minutes with no break is quite the feat.

Sato is certainly one of the best Baroque violinist. There is no doubt about his passion toward Baroque music. He is only a few player whose violin playing is the extension of his body. Bravo

Over fourty years ago my mom made me a tape. She read "the little mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen and used this music. It was the birthday gift for my sixths birthday. One of the best things my mom ever did for me.

We are rehearsing this piece for our coming concert in Sherborne (UK), and our conductor is highly recommending us to watch this wonderful performance. It is full of inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing.

When I listen to the performance, the important thing is "Musik als Klangrede" or "Der musikalische Dialog".
In this respect, Sato and his orchestra are perfect.
Bravo!

Playing Bach with feeling? In AD 2000+? Outrageous! And very, very beautiful! And the flautist, magnifique!

Fabulosa interpretación. Cada obra de Bach eleva el espíritu hasta el infinito. ¡Gracias, maestro, y, como siempre dijiste, "la Gloria es sólo para Dios"!

The whole thing is astounding, but that menuet is by miles the best version I’ve ever heard. Such a lovely ebb and flow to the pulse.
