There is something so intense about having to face-off with the person you used to be back then...

I just realized the reason red has three dots before the fight, is because he’s waiting for you to say something, because everyone he’s fought before has said something before the fight. And the reason he doesn’t say anything after is because he whited out. Like you do when you lose a fight in red and blue.

The atmosphere of heart gold and soul silver Red battle is what makes it seem like the most epic battle out of every battle you've ever had in my opinion.

As a 9 year old, I remember being mind blown/confused thinking this was Ash Ketchum lol. The idea of facing the main character you watch on TV every day after school was an incredible twist. And at a time when pokemon was at it's peak near the late 90's. Moments you never forget

Heart gold hands down, has the best red battle theme

Sun and Moon Red is such a disappointment they nerf his team level. In HGSS was the legend himself in the flesh.

You have no idea what it was like before internet days, it was alot more rewarding and shocking when you found this as a kid not knowing.

I always assumed a legendary pokemon at that point. Instead was a legendary trainer. Good times.

Red is probably my favorite boss of all time in any game.

Internet wasn’t as big in during gen 2 either so many people were probably surprised when they found him. I know I was amped and way under leveled and had to come back multiple times to beat him

oh my god that is more like a nightmare...imagine as a 8 year old you're so proud and think that you're the strongest after beating the Elite AND THEN A NON SPEAKING RED COMES WITH HIS 81 LEVEL PIKACHU AND SHIIITT that is scary

Holy shit... fighting Red is supposed to be intimidating, they made him feel as unintimidating as any random trainer in the last game wtf ?

The people that worked on HG & SS made it an actual adrenaline rush/ hard challenge beating red. My heart was racing when I first beat him 8-9 years ago.

Pokémon sun and moon was very disappointing... heart gold and soul silver is the best to battle red.

I remember when i was 12 i got heartgold and i went up mount silver with my level 55s and when i made it to the top and found red i thought id found an easter egg or something very secret.I talked to him and i was surprised when he started to battle, i was fine and then his pikachu and espeon swept my team

Red's mere presence isn’t as intimidating in Sun/Moon. HG/SS Red had you using every revive you had, crying and after all is said and done, regret even speaking to him in the first place😂😂
