Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy - his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) - in a coastal town in Florida. Frank's plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.

Chris Evans became noticed in superhero movies, but the guy is an immensely talented actor - I think is time for him to step out of the superhero bubble and start to be noticed by something different. I find he tends to excel himself on lower budget movies - Push and Snow piercer are amazing, although Push is still a superhero movie

I loved the teacher’s voice ever since I first saw the movie and last week I found out she is the voice actor for Assistant Mayor Bellwether in Zootopia… No wonder I loved both voices from both films - MY EARS KNEW

I stumbled on this movie in the spring of 2023. So far I've watched it 12 times. (I have to watch it alone) I'm not embarrassed about that, and number 13 won't be long from now. My number one before was "The Ultimate Gift, " and "Gifted" is now tied for 1st place. Life is just suddenly better and more sane after watching either of them.
