Near the end of the video you mention how it has a limited number of amps and no drive pedals. But that is not the point of this unit. If you want all the extra things, you'd buy a modelling unit like the Helix or GT1000. This is for those moving away from real (and heavy) amplifiers (like me); we can add in our FX and drive units easily on a pedalboard to work with this end-of-the-chain pedal. All I need is some good amp sounds, which this unit provides, and I can supply the rest. Still, a good video. Thanks!

This is actually a really solid and useful unit if you spend some time dialing it in. I use mine with a midi capable switcher unit and various fx and drive pedals in the fx loop. Each amp has 3 different gain stages, 200 cab and mic options and different eqs.

Great demo!!! Boss will probably provide a software update in the future that provides more amps. But the ones that they have included sound great!!! And the competition (Strymon, and Walrus) have even less amps (just three 😳)…. I think boss did a great job for this price range 🧐

In this price range I think you've completely missed the point. 8 amp models and 3 bass models is basically covering every base. If you can't get a good tone from these choices then you need to learn Piano. Skimming through presets does NOT do this pedal justice. You don't need distortion on everything. Some of us like to create our own presets. This pedal absolutely blows away the competition.

Great video Mad! Just comment, IR-200 have a lot more feature if you compare with his main competitor Iridium by Strymon, like 8 preamps for guitar and 3 for bass, SEND/RETURN section and other things. Congratulation and Cheers!!!

Nice review man thank you! My only concern was the sound of the amp Sims so the fact that there are only 8 does not bother me at all. It even has a fx loop and stereo out! Ambient dream machine🔥🔥🔥

Why does this reviewer say that you dont have many amps to choose from in this pedal? The Boss IR 200 gives you 8 guitar amps and 3 bass amps. Other modeling pedals only give you 3 amps. So the Boss has over twice as many amps as any other amp modelling pedal!

He doesn't even say how many there are, he just says there are "very few" to choose from. And yet the Boss has %260 more amps than any other pedal! His other complaint was the lack of a USB cable. No complaints on the sound.

I just want it for the IR loader…I don’t care about the amp models….being able to use stereo IR’s, and at Hi-Res, I can use my amp and a load box and ditch the cab…..The Two Notes Cab M is cool, but it’s not stereo….

I was also disappointed by the amp simulations...but with a distortion pedal '(angry charlie) in front of the JC120 simulation, it works well.... Even better live when it is plugged directly into the mixing console
