I 100% agree. My son was in Early Intervention. His SPED teacher was and is so amazing. In the emotional troubled room next door, they liked for parents to come in and help at craft time, the sounds from that room were horrifying. Screaming, yelling, sometimes furniture breaking, those kids would drive me drink everyday. The only reason my son is doing so well in gen ed high school is his hard work and his sped teacher from 3 to 5. Love you Mrs Waker!

Can the SPED paras get a shout out too? We’re SUPER underpaid and feed, change, help run the classroom, take the data, help them learn and deal with the behaviors…that may or may not result in us getting our butts kicked. Phew 😮‍💨

You're pretty much right. Give some credit to the sped educational assistants. They do most of the feeding, changing and restraining, and for close to minimum wage.

🤣🤣🤣So We were a dumping ground for teachers who couldn't handle their students. IEP's, 504's or any labels. Then our school starting labeling the children with ODD - Oppositional Defiant Disorder. What the Hell! The social worker tell us that we need to be more understanding and patience when that child has fit, throw a chair, hit another student, spit in your face, curse you out, yelling in the classroom, standing on the table and running out of the class. But Social Worker is nowhere to be found. Educators are fed up. No, more dineros won't be enough.

Eddie, I'm double majoring in elementary education and special education and have a severe learning disability in math. I'm gonna be required to teach sped when I graduate and I'm not sure if I should be excited or cry. 😂 Lord, give Sped teachers an extra dose of... everything.

I'm a special needs paraprofessional and it's no joke. I left my whole purse in the classroom and didn't go back. It had to stay till the next day!! 😂 Paraprofessionals need their flowers too as well as teachers!! 💪👩🏾‍🏫
