Disrespected by everyone and appreciated by NO ONE.

The way disrespectful kids speak to adults today is absolutely disgusting. If you are thinking about becoming As far away as you possibly can.

It's the parents'behavior why most teachers stop teaching .

Teachers quit because of entitled parents and greedy admin.

Truth. Teachers are burnt out and expected to entertain kids that are bored with antiquated teaching methods and curriculum

Do you know who is not surprised why so many teachers quit? Teachers.

Low pay is part but the stress workload and taking it home with you is where they draw the line. They can work with babies and make more money and less stress. They can work with the elderly with dementia who have violent tendencies and have less stress than teaching middle school

Micromanagement...and now, slavery to computer grid/"educational tech" slavery. Forced to put everything into computer programs, and then micromanaged from above. Torture to those who went into the system for the love of learning and the freedom to teach.

I am quitting this system - we care too much to work for something that is not good for kids and our society - we need to hold those in charge accountable

This is fact check true. I am paid well as a veteran teacher in my district, and I am still stressed out and wondering how to make it 9 more years till retirement.

I walked after 33 yrs last Friday. ( plus longterm subbing) the buildings are FILLED with family members in about every capacity because no outsider wants to work there. I was in two buildings with 4 admin. Never saw them. Students are screen addicted- any movement or words or promotes a real human has is hardly seen by today’s digital junkies. The disrespect was too much. Just me and my pension now.
Whew. 😅

You are the first person I have heard admit that! Thank you!❤ I want to quit teaching this instant but owe it to my students to remain until the end of the school year.

In my country, there had been some cases that they let students who under perform or doesn't meet the standard move to the next grade or graduate, sometimes it makes me feel like my hardwork's all down the drain

I am a middle school math teacher in my 60's. I am healthy and I love teaching and plan on continuing for another 5 years until I am 70, and then evaluating if I want to teach for another couple of years. The problem as I see it is the system does not know how to nurture young teachers to become strong and effective. The funding shortfall is almost the entire reason: it forces low teacher salaries, and gives a short shrift to any sort of support system. The big result is that less than half of new teachers make it to the five year mark. The bigger story is that the rapidly declining number of teachers who make it all the way to retirement. Increasing numbers of teachers are quitting at 15 to 8 years - and that means the talent pool for veteran teachers becoming administrators is vanishing. As bad as it is, this administration is hell bent on destroying education - Trump will gut education, and he isn't planning on giving that federal money to the states for education.

It’s not even the disrespect from the kids.
It’s the lack of consequences for the disrespect and oftentimes violent actions. And then being told that the child’s behavior is your fault because you “didn’t make your expectations clear” or “your lesson wasn’t engaging enough.”
And then when you call parents to address these behaviors, they want to blame you as well.
Then the parents call the Principal and complain that you spoke out of line and of course principals don’t want parents to be upset so you get thrown under the bus and gaslit into believing you are the problem.
