14 year old Ahmed Mohamed was taken in handcuffs by the Irving, Texas Police from MacArthur High School to a Juvenile Detention Center because he brought a homemade clock to school while being brown. I got angry about the racism and islamophobia of it all!

The entire time you were discussing the "fire racists, hire races" I was nodding my head. I can't agree more. By allowing people who present bigoted and racist behavior to maintain their stations of authority, we're validating their behavior. There has to be greater diversity not only in hiring practices, but also in teaching. We ave to teach kids about Lonnie Johnson, Abdul Qadeer Khan, Margaret Knight, David Lam, ect. Give kids people to look up to that look like them and then diversity in the workplace will follow. *sigh* So much frustration with Irving and society as a whole. I need a chocolate...

The worst thing is that they didn't call a bomb squad. That means they didn't think it was a bomb. How can you arrest someone for making a bomb, but not call the bomb squad?
