Moved to North Carolina 11 years ago from up North. I absolutely love it, made a family here and welcome everyone. But please, if you move here from NY, CA, MD or wherever. Please leave your politics where you came from..We like our state the way it is.

Having lived in both NYC and Charlotte, I can state without reservation that Charlotte wins hands down

I live in NC. I remember sitting in a staff meeting with someone from HR who recently moved here from NY. She kept making these disrespectful comments about the intellect of people she was meeting. Even suggested we were violent because of open carry laws and many gun-owners. I remember thinking i hope she goes back to NY with her ignorance and arrogance. Some New Yorkers have elitist attitudes about the south. It’s wild to me.

I’ve lived in Charlotte, NC since 1987. I’ve never seen road rage and cars spinning around on the freeways ! My motto is: If you don’t love Charlotte, you’ve never lived anywhere else …..and I do expect the door to be held for me. Chivalry is not dead in NC!!!

Huge amount of people moved to NC from north east to escape B.S. rules, regulations and taxes.
Soon after they get to NC they will implement the same shit they escaped from. Currently NC taxes everything. My property tax assessment went of 70%. Think about that...Most states have yearly caps on property tax increase, something in 2-4% range. But not NC. They also don't give you any tax breaks if your senior citizen on limited income. And of course they have state income tax. They tax groceries and medicines also. What a crap hole of a state.

We’d actually prefer to see nobody come here! Congestion, real estate prices etc have skyrocketed in recent years, and those are VERY undesirable to us! Yes, it’s true, massive insects, alligators, venomous snakes the length of a power pole, brain eating amoebas in the water as well as their cousins the flesh eating amoebas, bears hiding in your car to attack you when you head to work in the morning. Best off to avoid all these negatives and stay up north!

7:40 I’ve hiking in the NC mountains for 15 years and I have never seen a bear or encountered a bear while hiking the only area u have to watch for them is closer to black mountain, Asheville, and Cherokee but if ur hiking in other parts there’s a good change u won’t see or find a bear coming close to you. Also a lot of the bears in NC don’t go near humans anyway unless it’s a mother protecting its children.

25 years ago I couldn’t stand Raleigh. Raleigh has grown so much. Beautiful, manageable airport and some low cost nice places to eat

We moved here from bklyn ny in 2010. I will never go back unless there is an invite etc.
Except for the food etc. It's cleaner here/ cheaper here/ safer here / weather way better/ just need to look around and where you actually want to live. Drivers here in my opinion better here. I have people I know living in ny just not happy there. I can go on and on.

NC is way better than NJ in many ways. I would enjoy living there. Btw, it gets cold there too.

The people that move from NY to here can go back if they don"t like it.

Greetings from Wilmington - I take exception about hurricanes only hit us after moving from Florida. I think you need to do more research on that one. During the 90s it felt like every hurricane made a beeline from Africa straight to Wilmington. Hurricane Florence was 2018 and devastated southeastern NC. Wilmington was an island - my farm was under 12 feet of water for two weeks. My daughter is going to App State in Boone and lost her car during Helene. As far as driving in Wilmington, it’s a combination of driving mentalities that make it a challenge. You have the local style, you have the transplant style, and then you have tourist. I don’t blame tourists for being discombobulated, they don’t know the area so I give a lot of grace; but transplants need to either adapt and stop complaining or move on. It’s like moving to another country and expecting people to adapt to your style. No one would expect that so why is it different in this case.

Bears also are in eastern NC towards the coast. They occasionaly like to visit the central cities, especially Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Hickory areas and can cause quite the spectacle.

😂 people cursing each other even driving 25 miles per hour in forest hills...every day. Cars zooms right behind little kids' back even they haven't finished crossing the street in Queens! People got burned, robbed, pushed in subway but you still need to pay closed to $3 per ride😂 hard to love NYC anymore

Yes. A cousin of mine gave me her boyfriend’s leather jacket when he passed. They lived in Wilmington and he wore it during the Winter. I wore it to death but not in a NYC Winter
