If you're referring to Ur, that's the oldest city still populated although that's also debatable today. But the first ever city... no city has a claim as grandiose as that. But if it exists it must by somewhere in Egypt. 40K+ years old settlement were found there.
First homo Sapient skulls was found in Morocco and recently a100K+ year settlement was found in Tunisia.
So hedge your bets sister and don't assume civilization only started 7000 years ago

Actually that's incorrect.
To the best of our knowledge, China amassed a population of a million LONG before anywhere else in the world.
Ur and the other cities in Iraq (the word for "ancient" in German, btw, comes from the name of Ur - Uralt, or, "as old as Ur.") are simply more familiar to us, as China hides much of their most interesting history. There's also limited information sharing with the West.
The first "great civilization, " whatever that means, MIGHT have been in Iraq, but we don't know for sure...and what does that mean, anyway??
