Today we’re taking a look at the brand new Viltrox AF 50mm f2—a lightweight, affordable full-frame lens available for Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount. At just $199, it promises snappy autofocus, solid optical performance, and a compact build.

In this video, I test it on my Sony A7IV for both video and photography, covering real-world performance, close focus distance, bokeh, chromatic aberration, focus breathing, and more.

One of my favourite photography channels, you’re videos are such a vibe - very inviting - wonder how this compares to the zeiss 55, as it’s one of the only primes missing from my arsenal and could be swayed .

I love the 40mm, so I ordered one of these straight away! Viltrox is really on a roll, the value is amazing!

Why is this lens *more* expensive, than the Viltrox 40/2.5 ? Yes, it's faster - F2 vs F2.5...but a nifty fifty is usually easier to create, than a 40mm or 35mm wideangle. 50's are the standard kitlens since the 70s, back into the 35mm SLR days.

So bad Canon doesn't allow third party lenses 😢

Why not rather grab the Sony 50mm f/1.8? It's cheaper, and faster, and more compact.
