I encountered this formula for solving quadratic functions over fifty years ago in school. It was so drummed into me for memorization, that I can recite it to this day.

Again another superb presentation. Good maths teachers take it "slow" and repeat certain steps to get the abstract concepts across to the student. These short videos are wonderful tools for anyone interested in maths, or needs revision at basic levels. Great video, I, as an adult tried and tried to handle that formula, and more often than not, I came up woth wrong answers. I always got to the end part, but, that is where I lost it. Now I know what to do in future. I did that problem, and, as usual, lost it at very end. I square rooted the 64, , , , then divided the 8 by the 2, came up with X = 6 or X = -2. (not that it does me any good, I am just interested in maths as a past time to keep the 74 yr old brain active. Thanks
