Most Catholics Shouldn't Receive Communion

Many Protestants and those from other Christian faith traditions constantly ask Catholics why they are unable to receive the Eucharist at a Catholic mass - that is, partake in the Lord's Supper, where we receive the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, as outlined in John 6:53 from the Bible. However, most Catholics do not believe in the real presence of the Eucharist through transubstantiation, and thus should not receive either.

If someone does not believe that the Lord is present in the Eucharist then he is not Catholic.

Catholics who don't believe in the Real Presence aren't truly Catholic.

THANK YOU for saying that. I'm always so sad on the great holidays when just everyone goes to get the communion who visits church once or twice a year... It breaks my heart how badly we treat our Lord and Saviour :'( And I've always the feeling that no one ever talks about it or even sees it as a problem :(

It's scary how the sin of receiving the Holy Eucharist unworthily seems to go under the radar many times. Thanks for bringing awareness👍

There are many days I am.on my knees in tears that I cannot go to the Lords Supper - we must humble ourselves and ask for Reconciliation to the Body of Christ.

Truine God; One God...have mercy on us.
Holy Virgin; Mother of God...pray for us.
St Joseph; protector of The Child and Virgin...pray for us.

As a Protestant, I used to attend a church where they had communion every Sunday. There were many stations where there was bread and wine or juice to dip the bread (or gluten free—and around Passover it was matzoh, which is what Jesus would have broken at the last supper) and some icons on the table. There was very good preaching that one could be convicted by the Holy Spirit nearly every week. At the end of the service the pastor would invite us to come to the altar to leave the sin at the cross and be cleansed, or make a commitment. They sang multiple songs and there were enough stations with the bread and wine that one could kneel for several minutes and there talk to God. I had built up a lot of anger over the years and it seemed to come off a layer at a time every week as I left every old memory or bitter fist before the Cross of my Lord who died to take it away.

When we came to the altar there were enough stations that we could stay for a while. If we wept, we wept. There was no judgment. At that table we didn’t just confess, we also made commitments. We also might stand or kneel with a friend in need, or our family. It was also fellowship. Strangers felt welcome, and often converted to the Christian faith and were invited to pray with an elder. We usually walked out in joy, singing.

In the other hand, experiencing the real presence is amazing. Adoration never ceases to amaze me because the moment I step through the door a rush hits me, even though I have my mind on something else. It’s like these are two different types of fellowship and cleansing at an altar of God, each with their own place and purpose. At one, God meets us where we are to make a decision to follow Him, while at the other, we must commit to enter having made the effort to be ready for His holy and real presence.

This is actually one of the sins that are least talked about, and i'd say that it's already on the level that the Vatican should intervene.

I’ve once been told by a Priest that receiving the Eucharist is the ultimate gift of forgiveness.

My parents never taught me what you are saying. I learned about a lot of things on my own. I learned though the Protestants and that's where God lead me to learn.

yes, this is why confession is so important both in the catholic and orthodox churches. it also helps remind us of God's ever abounding grace.

The line for confession is always shorter than the line for the Eucharist. Lord have mercy.

Eucharistic Rosary:
There are five mysteries to meditate on Eucharistic devotion. 1. the wedding feast at Cana (Jesus changes water 💦 into wine 🍷(John2:1-12) 2. multiplication of loaves 🥖and fishes🐟 (John 6:1-15). 3. the teaching on the bread 🥖 of life (John 6:22-71). 4. the last supper (John 14:1-1726). 5. the road to Emmaus (John 24:13-35). Rev. Robert Stein wrote A Scriptural Rosary for Eucharistic Devotion.

It is actually a VERY big deal. Well said.

Also, we have to go the process to receive first communion (usually as a kid). So we’re not asking Protestants to follow a rule we don’t.

Basically everything is a mortal sin. That's why it's hard to stay in a state of Grace. But I never take the Holy Eucharist unless I go to confession. And that is why I'm at confession literally every weekend or every weekend if I make it on time. God bless. And God bless the HOLY CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC CHURCH. ⛪️🔑🍞🍷📖🕊🔥🙏🏻

"And this food is called among us Eὐχαριστία [the Eucharist], of which no one is allowed to partake but the man who believes that the things which we teach are true, and who has been washed with the washing that is for the remission of sins, and unto regeneration, and who is so living as Christ has enjoined."- Justin Martyr AD 157
