i really want to get more into epic fantasy so thank you so much for all the great recommendations. i also love how you gave some more female written recommendations because that's sometimes harder to find in that genre!

Lol yes I feel like I have less time & less energy (also because a lot of it gets lost feeling stressed and anxious unable to concentrate). I have that same boxset of the Mistborn trilogy. The Kate Elliott series sounds really good. I'd put it on my wishlist but the series doesn't seem to be available physically to me, except by sellers selling second-hand copies (are they out of print?). I have The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear on my TBR. Oh yes I have The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant on my TBR. I have books by Robin Hobb on my TBR too. I think my Melanie Rawn books have the same covers as yours. I have the first 3 Sevenwaters books. I read them from the library when I was a teenager and I liked them a lot (so I bought my own copies but then never re-read, they are still in plastic so many years later, in Dutch). I found out there are more books in English, not sure if they were ever translated. I have 5 of the Saga of Recluce on my TBR, but it's not complete (they're not the first 5, they are books 1, 2, 9, 10 and 11). They've become really hard to find nowadays, the ones I have I picked up in bookshops or second-hand places years ago. I have the Strange the Dreamer duology on my TBR (as you can tell, my TBR is pretty big haha). I have the first four books in the Pliocene Saga (in Dutch), I think that's all of them, according to GoodReads. I'm planning to, when I move and put my books on my bookshelves in my room in the new house, to go through all my books and see what I've got again (I do have it listed in Book Collector and GoodReads).

Some of my favourite epic fantasy series you haven't mentioned, are The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson), The Lontobyn Chronicle by David B. Coe, The Banned and the Banished by James Clemens, The Age of the Five by Trudi Canavan, The Black Magician Trilogy and The Traitor Spy Trilogy by Trudi Canavan (the latter takes place in the same world as the former but some years later). I also loved the Otherland series by Tad Williams though that's more of a science-fiction/fantasy combination. I loved the first 3 books in the Magic 2.0 series by Scott Meyer (again more of a science-fiction/fantasy combination), I've yet to read the next few in the series but I want to re-read the first ones first. And yes definitely Cosmere series by Brandon Sanderson (those I've read), but you mentioned that in the beginning.

Great recs. I don’t feel like I have extra time either, but I really want to catch up with all the fantasy I have on my tbr.

Nice list. As you seem to like medival fantasy i'd recommend the unhewn throne trilogy from brian stavely. It might be a bit slow at the start but its really worth it .

Been waiting over 20 years for Captal’s Tower. Re reading the first two -again-. It’s like seeing old friends
I’ve totally lost hope though :(
I cannot explain how thrilled I would be if the final book was completed. I have read some amazing books. But Exiles remains my number 1. Makes me sad actually :(

Penny - have you read the first binding? It’s compared to name of the wind. I’ve not read NOTW so I don’t know but I loved it and the author has already written the sequel hopefully to be published this year.

Omg I just realised this video is 3 years old 😂

Have you read the Dancing Jax trilogy? It's dark fantasy and I'm sure you'll like it. It's basically about an evil sorceror who write a fairytale book and cursed it so that anyone who reads it would be afflicted with a madness that causes them to behave like that character. It's very intruiging. Do try it and review!

I love that you have a broad range of fantasy. Have you read Mercedes Lackey? Also do have a goodreads i could follow or do you keep it private?

i want more narnia, LOTR, neverending story, willow labyrinth type fantasy. this stuff is way too heavy and convoluted with mundane details.
i am somewhat disappointed you didnt have Jack Whyte's Skystone series. it's also pretty heavy but in a good way. he throws in bits of history and legend to keep it from becoming too boring.

'I won't hold it up' *tries to hold them up* - that is a massive pile of books lol! I have no idea what's going on with Patrick Rothfuss; hopefully we do get that third book soon. :/ I'm currently reading Muse of Nightmares and I'm loving I hope she does write more books in that world!
