In 1386, gathering a multi-ethnic army, Prince Lazar of Serbia defeated the local Ottoman commander Lala Sahin Pasha at Pločnik. Achieving several minor victories, more Wallachians, Bulgarians, Albanians and Hungarians joined the ranks of Lazar’s army to repel the Ottoman yoke. His march culminated in the 1389 battle of Kosovo Polje.

This was one of the first battle videos I ever created. I never got around to finishing and uploading it until now. Enjoy & have a great weekend!

the outside world has little idea how much this battle means to the region, both as a myth and as a historical event

I think you got a few very important things wrong.
1.You have most likely confused Brankovic with Vukovic. Because Brankovic left the field without clear reason while Vukovic retreated when his army was defeated.
2.Lazar was most likely killed in battle.
3.Murat didn't participate in battle and was killed in his camp.
4. Vukovic wasn't "Bosnian", he was a Serbian noble from a region that is now and then known as Bosnia.

First of all, that's a great video. Thank you! There is a point that I need to correct. Left flank of the Ottoman army was losing the battle. After bosnians left the battle ground, Beyazid moved to the left flank. He didn't help the center, because the center was stable. It was a fast and unusual action. It is why he got the name of "Yildirim" (Lightening in Turkish)

Quite ""YUgoslavianised"" version of Historical event!
Firstly, Battle in Plocnik was waged by LAzar (and his man) alone (it was small battle but significant) . AFTER that Battle (and Lazar's Victory), his reputation gowned in other People in Balkan and THEN some of them start joining Lazar in before Kosovo battle.
Secondly, both version of events (killing Sultan Murat by pretending to surrender to Murat or killing him by pretending that (Milos) (K)Obilic (that is how Milos Obilic was originally named in documents) was dead or wounded) is from Ottoman SOURCES dated from 15th Century! 100 years AFTER Kosovo battle! It was made from need to explain death of Sultan!
WHAT was Murat "inspecting" in the battlefield!??
Usually Winning Kings and Sultans were not even present at very end of the battle.
There was no need for them to be there and there is nothing to "inspect".

However another version of event come form letter sent Vukovic ...

(that in the clip was named Bosnian and yet they (Bosnian s, Serbs, ..) speak SAME Language.
Off the topic, what is CRITERIA for belonging same people)!?

...to Venetian's sent IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BATTLE of Kosovo and there he said about Christian Victory. Milos Obilic was managed to pierce Ottoman defense, get to the Sultan and kill him. 12 Knights were sacrifice their lives for that.
LAzar was killed in the battle or soon after.

I like it when someone bothers to animate a battle. Makes you feel like your watching it unfold before you. Nice job with this. Wouldn't mind seeing a lot more of it.

Good effort, congratulations very good animations, keep doing it. Unfortunately, I can't say that I am fine with everything here. It looks like exaggerating role of non-Serbians who participated here. It would be as if said that on the Battle of Hastings English side consisted of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Faroese and so on. In this battle was Serbian army, made of Serbs, not different from Serbian army that was defeated at Maritsa and that won on Plocnik. It is shame how the history is being washed. Anyway, I don't blame you, but sources that you were using.

It’s a shame that this battle has become so distorted through such a melting pot of opposing accounts (as is the same with a lot of history I guess). I don’t think we’ll ever truly know if it was the Serbian left, centre or right that actually broke first. Many people have used Branković and Vuković as scapegoats but it is key to note that both these people were committed Ottoman fighters; just a year before at Bileća, Vuković had been responsible for a victory that was perhaps more crushing to the Ottomans than the more famous battle of Pločnik. This isn’t a criticism of your video, which is definitely more researched than anything I could do, just a long (and hopefully informative) rant about the reliability of historical sources.
Keep up the great work, can’t wait for your next video 👍

The whole Serbian army charge in the V shape, not just Brankovic wing. Also I heard that Music Stevan killed Yakub oldest Murat son in the first charge.

What about Teodhor Muzaka a Albanian prince who died on that battle no one is talking abt him

A small comment on the use of the term Bosniacs. They are allso Serbians. The Bosnian nobels and inhabitants were of Serbian origin.

As a westerner, I read the fall of the Balkans with frustration and sadness. But...I will say this of the Ottomans....they did, with out question, manage to field the best military machine seen in Europe since the Roman Legions, for a time. I'm not getting into the quarrel about the Ottoman conquests, I'm just saying that the Ottoman Empire was, for a period, the possessor of the finest troops anywhere. I'm enamoured of Empires, no matter which. I love Roman and "Byzantine" (read Roman) history and my studies always lead to the question..."how do you let the most formidable armies the world knows rot on the vine and eventually collapse?" Because it happens every time.

Good content, it seems to have influences from "the great war" and "kings and generals" kind of stuff. Impressive Quality, especially assuming your Team and budget is probalby really small compared to mainstream TV Documentaries

Albanians did not exist at that time, Epirus joined, but Epirus was a Greek Kingdom/Duchy...

Good job; succinct & on-point scene-setting, good graphics, right amount of explanation on this (heavily) politicized battle's history.
