Quality indie titile ❌
Quality AA game ❌
Straight up talking about AAA lol
AAA == gaming, good graphic == good game ( 14yo logic )

Less talk and make good games

Some Indians have an interesting mindset: if China can do it, so can we. As a Chinese person, who is interested in Indian culture I genuinely hope to see an Indian AAA game someday.

As a Chinese architect, when I first started working 18 years ago, I followed my supervisory engineer to meet with governors and mayors of 3~4 tier cities, and they were already talking about building animation/game industrial parks (also new energy industries, big data AI, autonomous driving, etc. It took another 5~6 years for these concepts to be widely reported by the media and discussed by the public.). Not to mention the mayors of 1~2 tier cities. Their foresight is astonishing. Later, more than 30 Chinese cities established animation/game industrial parks. There are millions of people working in the gaming industry in China, and even EA and Ubisoft have more than 1, 000 employees in China. In addition, Tencent is the largest shareholder of Epic Games (Unreal Engine), and they provide a lot of technical support for Black Myth Wukong. AAA games are a huge system project, only programmers and artists alone are not enough. For example, there are dozens of motion capture companies in China, as well as recording and dubbing studios. It takes 15 to 20 years of development of the entire industry chain to produce 1 AAA Game. The right time, right place and right people are all essential.

Stop comparing India to China, stop trying to copy everything China dose is the first step. India currently is not even on that level. A PC setup that can perfectly run this game costs beyond 1000 usd. let say India can make games like this, but who is gonna buy?

It's about our mindset
Ask 80% mobile gamers of our country
Do you know the game Wukong????
They would say "What the fuck is that".
They buy iPhones but never interested to buy pc Or console.

I someone who worked in indian game industry for 10+ years and yea i worked on RDR2 and many AAA titles, let me say this we can't make a game like black myrth wukong, lets forget that, indian studios can't even make properly FPS games or MOBA games lol, INDIANS mostly wants to copy other games and that's sad, part, give me one example which indian games are top level which matches international quality only one that's Raji the epic ( NONE ) lol forget that they can't even pay salary on time and most experienced people are getting paid peanuts lol address that too, your someone with 17 year experience you can't even grasp actually industry trend, what are all the games have you made !!

He made many gestures in an attempt to convince others.
Chinese people are not good at convincing others with gestures. Chinese hands are used to turn dreams into reality.

actions speak louder than words build it then speak its far too soon to say it can beat wukong when you havent even been able to make a single aaa title

GPD per capita PPP is important, and China is about 4 times India's. Wukong sales is more than 80% in China currently, and it is starting popular in the US/West. How many Indians can afford a PS5 and game PC?

For the same reason, India's advantage is cheaper programmers than China.

The real problem with us making AAA games is that we simply don't have any folk tales to rely upon or take inspiration from. Foreign developers have a world of fictional heritage to derive and work upon. They have Greek, Norse mythology, superheroes, zombies, and sci-fi to take inspiration from. These are all deeply rooted in their culture.
As for us, our biggest strength, Indian mythology, has simply no creative freedom. Any work derived from it is bound to offend somebody, and no investor wants to step upon such a religious landmine. Indian Developers don't even have a scratch to work from, they have to invent a completely new wheel, which I think is not possible in current time

Even if i am not a game developer but seeing the racing/driving genre scenario (& having to rely on indies for fun) i sometimes think i should make a game based on the "Last Car Standing" TV Show which during my childhood years of automotive content on Discovery Turbo in 2013. But i wonder if able to do that also since the execution part is hard & may take 4-5 years while maintaining my bills.

that moment when you learn that indie games doesn't mean they are made in india

I say we should take things step by step. It doesn't matter if we dash out with an AAA title. Even if its an Indie game, building a group of loyal audience will surely help us. Rome wasn't built in a day, nor was Nintendo made successful in a week or month. But I as a proud Indian believe in our abilities. As Chetan Bhagat once said "India is a country with a billion bright sparks". The Mindset to do what we want should be stronger than ever

As a animator who learning both game animation and acting animation I can agree, we have artists, but we don't have investors, during development of 'Raji an ancient epic' the developers literally went bankrupt, It was Netflix who later bought it's share and funded the later development, and another primary reason is our parents, they themselves still thinks that gaming is waste of time
