I’m a Gibson guy myself and also love a strat, but a Tele came with me overseas when I played guitar for my mom the day she passed. It was the one I could trust to travel with and do everything I wanted knowing it would be the last time I would get to play for my best friend and the woman who supported me the most in all my pursuits. I loved my mom and that Tele is a forever guitar for me after all this.

This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as random or as clumsy as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

Telecaster: Everything you need, nothing you don’t.
Or, as my older brother used to say: Telecaster - The fine line between junk and genius

Teles are the most versatile guitars out there. It can do blues, it can shred, it can solo.

And the crazy thing is....it was one of the first. They got it right the first time.

Telecaster is the simplest and at the same time the most versatile electric guitar.

Telecaster is like your favorite old pair of jeans. Always go back to it.

this video confirms what MusicRadar says:

“Telecasters are sonic chameleons. This is the guitar that links country jazz players like Danny Gatton to classic rocker Pete Townshend of The Who and Slipknot's masks metalhead Jim Root. A Tele can mimic a big-bodied jazz guitar, a country pedal steel, and a Les Paul.”

Ordered my first electric guitar today and although everyone was telling me to get a Strat I got a Tele. I just love the sound and simplicity and look of it. Can’t wait to start playing it

Roy Buchanan beat that mugger with his tele and when he was done it was still in tune.

other thing to say about telecaster that is never said is that it is the best solid body electric guitar to play

I always thought Teles looked so much cooler than Strats. The Strat became such an iconic guitar that its shape is just the generic guitar shape now.

For me you completely captured it when you said that you found yourself trying to get all your other guitars to sound the way the tele does naturally. That has been my experience and I cannot go back! I love my tele so much! Great video, thank you!

Teles are just more honest and unforgiving than most other guitars. Great Tele tone comes from the player and it takes time to get to a point where you can appreciate and make use of it. Most other guitars are a relative cakewalk to play. Telecasters demand the best but give up the best tones when you get it right.

Can't tell how many players, like myself, who had a hard on for LPs and Strats in their youth and didn't notice the plain, shy, frumpy looking guitar in the corner. Then, for some reason you ask her for a dance and - OMG - it's love. I don't think it's a coincidence that folk with something to say like Springsteen, Joe Strummer, Chrissy Hynde and Wilco Johnson were/are Tele players - it's a statement, a work of art and an instrument all in one. A 20th century icon if ever there was one.

I always thought telecasters were cooler looking. They're minimalist and classic at the same time.

The Telecaster has a legitimacy that no other guitar can match, in my opinion. My story is a lot like yours - it took me twenty years of playing and performing before I even picked up a Telecaster. I was just goofing around in Guitar Center and suddenly two hours had gone by and I was in love. My previous guitar purchases had been based on a thought that I "should have" whatever it was - Les Paul, SG, Explorer, etc. The Fender Telecaster was the first guitar I had never wanted and had never pined for, which I bought strictly for how it played, how it felt in my hands and how it sounded. It was an epiphany about what really mattered. The irony is that, once that epiphany had occurred, I realized that the Telecaster was actually the best looking guitar of all. It had simply never occurred to me. There had been clues, through the years. I had seen Dave Mason live back in 1999 and remembered thinking (damn...) I didn't know a Telecaster could sound like that. I saw Prince live and gained first hand knowledge - the man could give the whole audience a haircut with that thing any time he pleased. I remembered being 13 when Billy Squier's first album was released and how much I loved that record. It still holds up today and the cover photo of him with his Tele is simply timeless. I'm not ashamed to admit that how I look does matter. I came to the conclusion that I would never look stupid wielding a Telecaster, no matter how old I became. As great a guitar as it was, I ended up selling my black and white Explorer because I looked and felt silly holding it by the time I was 40. Somehow, the Telecaster will never become a parody of itself or cliche in the way that even a Les Paul can be.

Yeah, I was never impressed with the Tele either, and then I bought one, - I was instantly hooked. My Tele truly inspired my playing !
It's amazing...

I actually bought a squirer telecaster for$200 and I like the feel and tone better than my strat. I play it every day.

Surprisingly, the Tele is both one of the rawest and most elegant guitars of all time. Its simplicity is a source of inspiration as it gets out of the way of the player to allow the music to breathe and flow naturally. That, and you can drop it down a flight of stairs and not only will it be okay but it will most likely still be in tune.

You sound like me…
I’m a Les Paul guy.
I just got a Tele because I’ve never touched one in the 27 years I’ve been playing.
I grabbed the cheapest one I could find… a Squier Sonic on Amazon.

I was PISSED when it turned out to be the best sounding guitar I’ve ever played in my life!

That’s the sound I’ve been looking for my whole life!!
