My rule of thumb is to always back in when parking. It always makes it much easier to leave.
When you pull in to park everything is visible to you, that is Not so when you back out.
Greetings from the Asheville area.

I get a kick out of when ppl complain about snow. We live on a miraculous, blessed planet where frozen water falls from the sky, and that's the extent of our winter. Ya know, unlike sulfuric acid on Venus or -200 F weather on Mars.

"I feel your pain." This year we are not getting as much snow here in Maine, but most winters we get buried on a regular basis. I have a Boss V-Plow mounted to the front of my F-350 Super Duty 4x4 diesel pick-up for about 8 months of the year. Everyone in the family also has snow shoes which get used quite often.

When I lived in snow country, at first snow we always added sandbags over the back axle in our pickups to help with traction. Trucks are too light in the rear-end without a load and with four-wheel drive, you have much more weight up front making it worse.

I have not been to one of the Mother Earth News Fairs before but since you will be in Asheville it would be silly not to go. ... Especially since I live 45min away. Looks like April 9-10. Hope to see you then!

Hello Cody and crew, A large " Dump " of snow and then above freezing wet heavy sticky .... Oh Yeh I hear you .  Well Us Folks just a little North East  of you ( North of the USA Border in Saskatchewan ) and we have finally had a little ( not near what we are used to but winter is not done yet ) snow and now we are having a good taste of cold , yes, with the wind it is -40' F or C ( The temperature is the same @ -40' ) or slightly colder over night  so .... no slush splashing up on the windshield, not using lots of washer fluid but yes it is a little cool here .    Now we have to get the gear in order for when we warm up a little (  -20 or so ) we go ice fishing.   Looks like the renovation is moving along nicely and all is looking good, really like the ceiling, very nice . Keep 'em coming Darren.

We used to have a place where we got 3-4 feet of snow in winter here in Idaho. I bought a small 35HP 4 wheel drive New Holland tractor with a bucket and a blade along with the other attachments. I had the dealer swap the ag tires for "industrial" tires and put calcium chloride in the large tires for weight/traction. Never had to chain it up and pulled out neighbor's stuck tractors with it. It made life so much easier year around... Only regret was not having a bigger one when moving material.

Speaking with Eliot Coleman!!! He's amazing. That's AWESOME. I'm so happy for you. From the barn stage to the main stage in one speech, that's fantastic. :D

I sure miss living somewhere that gets a lot of snow (lived in Jackson Hole, WY for a few years)...we don't get much down here in the Willamette Valley in NW Oregon. Looking forward to hearing you speak in Albany this year! It was great meeting both of you last year...just hoping it's not so darn hot this year! See you in June!

I remember a tire shop that shared a 6 story building with a hotel, the sign read, "we have studs, " in the middle of the summer.

It is always a lot of fun in the spring when the snow melts and we find all the stuff we have been looking for all winter :)
Thanks for sharing - Martin

We are hoping to make it to the Topeka show. That will be a long drive from Alaska. They allow studs in Alaska also.
