It is like any art. You gotta pick the best picture, make sure everything is situated perfectly and not blurry looking. It is like photography, messing with settings, getting the best angle with no glare, picking the best pictures, and printing them to give to the customer. Anyone who thinks everything should be hand painted needs to try it themselves to see just how realistic that expectation is. And if they consider it cheating, then perhaps they should pass on any type of "machine" or "tool" in their "handmade" items altogether.

People don't consider it cheating to use literally any other tool in cooking, baking, or any other aspect of life. Cheating is "to practice fraud or trickery. to violate rules dishonestly"
Since you never stated everything was completely hand made, scratch made, etc. you are not breaking any sort of rules. Plus, the hyper realistic cakes themselves are "cheating" by definition. If you said "I make hyper realistic cakes completely by hand" then used a sugar printer and even the premade ingredients, that would be cheating. Like someone else saying they use old fashioned tools then pulling out a modern power tool. Or people pushing someone to win a race, or using steroids, or performance enhancers, rigged bats, etc etc etc. Cheating is going against rules, I tell my kids this almost constantly. If there were no rules established and agreed upon, no rules were broken, and therefore no cheating done. If people wanna say you cheat using the printer, then they cannot allow any other tools or premade ingredients. Because people have a very weird and skewed idea of what makes something "hand made".
