Album Communiqué 1979.

Where do you think you're going
Don't you know it's dark outside
Where do you think you're going
Don't you care about my pride
Where do you think you're going
I think you don't know
You got no way of knowing
You got no place to go

I understand your changes
How long before you reach the door
I know where you think you're going
I know what you came here for
And now I'm sick of joking
You know I like you to be free
Where do you think you're going
I think you'd better go with me, girl

You say there is no reason
But you still find cause to doubt me
When you ain't with me girl
You're gonna be without me

Where do you think you're going
Don't you know it's dark outside
Where do you think you're going
Don't you care about my pride
And now I'm sick of joking
You know I like you to be free
Where do you think you're going
I think you'd better go with me, girl

Once one of my friend asked me why you always listening the old songs.he is a justin bieber kinda music guy.
i asked him to sit, and i played this song.
during the last guitar part he closed his eyes and i could see he is tightening his grips on the chair, his hands holding tight...
then when the song was over i looked at him and i smiled; but he aint said a single word, nor he replied anything, no smiles nothing...
then i told myself "hey Mark here is another guy for you, take him.."
now he is a mark knopfler fan better than i do..

2:30 and forth is the perfect example of Dire Straits’ ability to not overdo anything, but still be able to create a damn good increase of intensity.
I love this song.

If this song is based on a personal experience shows that Mark is a gentleman.

Heard this song first at the age of 13. Now I'm 47 and still like it. A real masterpiece of pure and true music. Where has all this kind of music gone?

Everytime I listen to this song everything falls in place. Mark is a genius. His guitar talks to you in so many ways. This is truly one of Dire Straits best song.

Bob Dylan lies awake at night wishing he could write songs as good as this.

The world wouldn't be the same without Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits. it's sad to realize that there is going to be a day without him. thankfully, we can listen to this brilliant music even after. i have been a fan of the dire straits as long as i can remember and i'm NEVER ever tired of hearing it. This, is music. This, is creativity. This, is having a gift. NO autotune. NO computers. Just a man and his guitar. and indeed, lets not forget, the fantastic combo of the band members including that fantastic drummer. It's sad they aren't together anymore. And as good as Mark is and as fantastic his music, i still prefer the Dire Straits. In his solo albums, you can see Mark's 'yourney' with music and his creative capabilities. But in the Dire Straits, it's absolute perfection. Every. Single. Time.

Es ist einfach so krasse Musik und nicht zu vergleichen, mit dem, was heutzutage als Musik bezeichnet wird.. Unbeschreiblich.

This is definitely an underrated song of DS and I think that’s why I like it more.

Last solo is phenomenal.

Unfortunately, such high quality songs can no longer be produced. A legendary song that will never get old!
