I know we only get an edited portion of the meeting with Maisie and Sheila, but Kim was so delicate and kind in how she phrased things to them when discussing her grandfather, when you know deep down she kept thinking "That son-of-a-bitch!"

"Would you love a cup of tea? I'd love a cup of tea. Right." That is the most beautiful, love filled statement in the entire video. Simple words but the minds behind them were filled with such joy at that moment it just felt perfect.

I can relate to Kims experience with her family history. My grandfather did the same despicable thing. He abandoned my 26 yr old grandmother with 5 children in 1965 to run away with the nextdoor neighbor. He never sent them money or saw them again even though he had the means. I spoke to my other grandma about this recently and she said men back then did that all the time. There were no repercussions for them and no family law to protect the family left behind. My grandma died 20yrs ago and I found out this man is still living as a multi millionaire in Muskoka.

I love the question "Would you like a cuppa Tea?" and Kim's honest reaction She'd love a cup of tea.

Back then, when men left women (or got kicked out), they divorced their children too. I once asked my Mom why my father couldn’t have come to get me for visits and she looked surprised and said, “Why would he have?!” It’s the kind of generational divide that leaves a person deeply confused, but it’s like hitting a stone wall. She understood my question as little as I understood her answer.

A touching film. Kim is such a likeable, lovely woman. Sorry you were disappointed by your grandad, Kim. You are a testament to the fact that it doesn't matter in the end. What we are and do within our lifetimes despite our backgrounds: this is all that matters.❤️

I feel so bad for Maisie and Sheila. To find out all these years later that their beloved George Baugh was a bigamist who abandoned his children must have been devastating.

I have a whole new appreciation for her after watching her on this. She's very sweet and soft-spoken.

I can sympathize. I never had a dad growing up. I didn’t meet him till I was 18. He had three other kids that he had was a great and loving dad to. I’ve forgiven him, but it really stung growing up knowing he accepted them but not me

I remember such men when I was growing up. There was a degree of tyranny about them driven from wanting to show they were kings in their home and everyone had to fall to their demands. That lot are dead but they have left scars that are only healed by our kids never to carry them on.
Kim did well to see the ghost and then say goodbye to it

My grandfather did it, too. I know it was quite a common occurance, but it still hurts. Grandpa left a wife with 4 or 5 children in Michigan when he met my grandmother and stayed with her until their deaths in the 1980s. Its just sad to know my father & aunt have siblings who grew up without a father....who we all knew as the most intelligent, hard working, kind, charismatic man on earth. I bet the abandoned wife might describe him differently. 😢

Imagine a time when moving from Liverpool to Manchester is like disappearing off the face of the Earth.

A true Narcissist. If he hadn't wanted to be with his first wife he could at least have sent money to Kim's mum and her sisters. He clearly wasn't very destitute, he was able to give his own family holidays and nice clothes etc. Clearly he was a selfish man, unbelievable!!

my mother told me her father died from a scorpion bite. she gave me this whole story about how it all happened. Turns out the truth is, he ran off with another woman and I didnt find that out until 25 years later.

Thank you for sharing your story. My grandfather and great grandfather on my mom's side did (except for the polygamy) basically the same. It is heartbreaking. I feel for people who go through this kind of thing. God bless Kim and her family.

My great great grandfather left his wife and children in 1907 and moved to Canada. Had another family and never spoke to his first family again. His son died in 1914 in WW1 and he never knew.

Kim really comes across as a very friendly, intelligent, warm and modest woman. And it seems that the ladies picked up on that aswell. If an Englishman or woman offers you a cup of tea out of their own initative then that's usually a good sign
