🌍✈️ These are Europe’s most hostile destinations for British tourists!

The Telegraph has put together a list of European holiday spots where tourists aren't exactly getting a warm welcome. Here are the top 5:

🚩 **Number 5: Tenerife**
Hostility ranking: 6/10
A big anti-tourism movement is rising in the Canary Islands, one of Britain’s favourite holiday destinations.

🚩 **Number 4: Venice**
Hostility ranking: 7/10
In April 2024, Venice started charging 5 Euros to visit the city. Locals regularly protest against tourism, too.

🚩 **Number 3: Amsterdam**
Hostility ranking: 7/10
The anti-tourism sentiment here isn't just from protesters but also from city authorities, especially against British party tourists.

🚩 **Number 2: Barcelona**
Hostility ranking: 8/10
For years, locals have been protesting, demanding affordable housing. The mayor even plans to eliminate all short-term rentals by 2029.

🚩 **Number 1: Majorca**
With the most regular anti-tourism protests in Europe, Majorca tops the list as the least welcoming destination for tourists in 2024.

As a Brit, I have been to Amsterdam and Barcelona. I behaved like a normal person and was treated as such. None of these places are hostile as long as you respect the people and their country.

Not true. EVERY tourist is welcome, but no hooligans, drunkards, noisemakers and people who are behaved like scum...

These cities are not hostile to tourists. They just don't want to tolerate a state of constant debauchery. Some people treat these places like adult theme park and it's disturbing and disgusting to everyone. Also, the short time house rental industry that takes housing for locals away. Those are the biggest issues.

I'm American. I've lived abroad and visited other countries. I showed sincere, extreme gratitute to my host nations with the utmost respect to their culture and way of life. I always thanked all those around me. I cleaned up after myself and I happily answered any questions natives had for me. Never had a problem. You're in someone else's home. Be a good guest.

Funny, I am a brit and have been to every single one of these places. All of the locals were lovely and had no issues with me. You know what I did? I was polite and genuinely interested in the area and people, not the party scene.

I live in Cornwall, England. We don't particularly like British tourists either.

If drunk British tourists are not welcome it doesn't mean all tourists are not welcome

In terms of unaffordable housing, that’s an issue against bnbs and city governments. Not tourists.

I am from Mallorca and this information is not true.the biggest problems are vacation rentals. Foreigners are welcome, Responsible and respectful tourism with the island and the inhabitants. It is not so difficult to understand, it is common sense

None of the issues are specific to UK tourists. In my seven decades of travel, I've observed the welcome is warmer when visitors to other folks' countries DON'T behave like entitled pr*cks.

I'm from Mallorca. What do you expect from us if most of you come here just to get drunk. Your behaviour is unacceptable.

I’m Scottish and have only ever had a positive reaction to me being in any country that I’ve visited. I don’t get smashed and start fights, I respect the hotel, villa, apartment I’m in, I’m always nice to the staff (I tip often where it’s welcomed), I even helped two woman in there 80s put their rubbish into the wheely bin they have in the Old City in Rhodes and the gentleman from a cafe/bar opposite where they live gave me a free beer. It’s your behaviour that dictates how welcome you will be and how well you are treated. Always try your best to be nice, polite and respectful to the people that run businesses, work and live in the place you visit no matter how bad your day is going.

In Portugal we LOVE the Brits, the ones that don´t piss, puke, fight, etc... in our streets. Also respect private property.

They are against drunk culture, not tourism.

It is the cultured tourists who respect the local culture and have an interest in the locality that are welcome. It is the plebeians who want to drink in the sun that the locals hate.

In Greece, Spain, Italy, young groups of British tourists are actually considered a menace

I live in central Rome in the historic center, so I strongly emphasize with the sentiment about party tourists. People forget that there are people that actually LIVE in these tourist hot spots. I have children and more than once they got scared awake by party tourists. I for one am happy to welcome tourists and am the kind of person that becomes very excited when someone asks me about places they should visit that aren’t too well known, but please be respectful. Plenty of people call these cities home

Proud of the Spanish citizens that demand the government to put the locals interest first. We don’t hate tourists, we just want a controlled tourist system that does not degenerate our land and dooms our people

As a Brit when on holiday I'm often embarrassed and ashamed of fellow Brits behaviour, they are rude, loud, often drunk and disregard local customs and culture. More than once my husband and I have had to defend our hosts from their abuse and foul language from Brits not just young people either people our age or older too. When we first started going abroad with our children we researched our destination its culture and customs even learning a bit of the language. We made life long friends and have been back often they have taken us to village festivals not known by tourists my husband has helped move Bulls, Cows and sheep to different pastures and once helped chop down Olive trees so they could get the wood exported on time after one of the cousins had an accident and were behind with getting the wood ready for shipment. We know their extended family and there grandchildren. My own children still holiday there every other year with their own children we love them and they treat us like family. Unfortunately we all get tarred with the same brush because of others bad behaviour

As a non-party brit, this year I went to
Prague in winter, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden (Saxon swiss forest), Budapest (stop over day for Bulgaria), Sofia(Rila lakes etc), Copenhagen to visit a friend near for a few days, Lund, Salzburg, zurich and surrounding towns, Geneva. (Krakow, Seville, Faro, and more to come by the end of year)

Really no one cares if youre british, only if you act like the party brit and be loud
