I took my pre-teen niece to see Barbie, and I’m glad I did. I personally thought that using an iconic doll (that’s been through several decades of varying levels of feminism) to convey a message about the world we live in is brilliant. It’s not a fluffy slapstick comedy, it’s not “a girly movie”, and I didn’t even know which actress was transgender. I’m not sure how people can judge this movie without seeing it. That baffles me. I really think people should put their preconceived ideas aside and see the movie and then form their own opinion.
