Solo Winter Backpacking in Colorado - Will I freeze?!

In this video, I share an overnight backpacking trip along Vallecito Creek in southwest Colorado (Weminuche Wilderness, San Juan Mountains). The snow is deep, and I am inexperienced at deep snow backpacking. Let's see what happens in this adventure! Will I freeze???

Brilliant video! If camping in snow I always take a small hot water bottle with me. Sounds a bit lame and never used it yet but I know if things get nasty i will be very thankful I had it.

Wow that was some tough conditions to go out in. I hike with a little saw for wood processing. Some experienced winter cold campers that I’ve seen have said to supplement your air pad’s R value, you should put the reflective material or closed cell foam underneath you, on top of the air pad. That works better than underneath the pad. I don’t know but these individuals are out in serious conditions on video. Good luck

You must have hiked 5 miles instead of 3 just to get the shots of you hiking on and then having to go back and get the camera.
