How I Layer for Extreme Cold Weather Backpacking

Proper layering is vital to staying safe and warm when winter camping. I recently went camping over 10,000 feet in the mountains of Colorado to winter camp in -5 Fahrenheit (-20 C) temperatures. This is how I layered for the mission.

As a Canadian, 'that's interesting'.... walks out in shorts and sandals in -15C weather.
