When I was young and foolish, I would do deep snow camping in upstate NY. The days were extremely short, temperatures were very low, and nights were long. So, it was always early to bed for a very long winter's nap. Then I'd awaken at 11 PM and need to pee. After experiencing peeing in the middle of the night with temps of -20, and snow up to my buttocks I quickly learned to carry a pee bottle. After my first trip with a pee bottle, I learned to carry a much larger pee bottle. Essential winter camping equipment!

Not sure about Amazon but here in western Washington I can usually find some running water to boil instead of melting snow. Was faster and less fuel.

Just finished the Benton Mackaye trail as a thru hike this afternoon. There was a good deal of snow and a TON of water crossings. Tell Jupiter I say hello! I met him on my Pinhoti thru hike in 2016 when he was SOBO on his ECT hike. He gave me a Pinhoti blaze and inspired me to keep hiking and go lighter

I love winter backpacking and camping. I added wood stoves to my kit a couple years ago and love their functionality when it's time to melt snow for water. Give the Firebox Nano Ti a look. One of my favorites (4 oz). Quickly becoming a mainstay in my pack tear round.
