Here are 5 extraordinary feats of strength from one of the most dominant combat athletes in history:
1. Deadlift: Over 880 Pounds (400 kg)
• He was documented deadlifting over 400 kg (880 pounds), demonstrating unmatched raw power essential for his sport.
2. Bench Press: 440 Pounds (200 kg)
• Even with a chronic pectoral injury, he could bench 200 kg (440 pounds), showcasing incredible upper-body strength.
3. Squat: Over 770 Pounds (350 kg)
• His lower-body strength was just as remarkable, squatting over 350 kg (770 pounds) and training regularly with 600+ pounds.
4. Farmer’s Walk with 200-Pound Dumbbells
• He could carry 200-pound dumbbells in each hand for long distances, an extraordinary display of grip strength and endurance.
5. Pull-Ups at 286 Pounds Bodyweight
• Weighing 286 pounds, he still performed 42 pull-ups—a level of relative strength almost unheard of for an athlete of his size.

WHO WAS HE?
These achievements belong to Aleksandr Karelin, known as The Russian Bear and The Experiment. Regarded as one of the strongest and most physically dominant combat athletes in history, his legacy in Greco-Roman wrestling remains unparalleled.

Guy lost 2 fights out of 800 and 1 was because they (USA) changed hundreds years old rules for him to loose, and other i believe was by him breaking something in his body

And he was surely on loads of the best gear soviet science could master. And that is NOT a criticism or knock. He was barely human. An amazing specimen.

😂 they called him the “experiment” because of all the drugs he took. Not because he was strong 😂

So i am 5ft 10 in and i have
big hands at 10 inches as measured by nfl combine style. I have 9 inch wrists. I wrestled D1 college back in 1990s at 184 and 194 WC.

26 years ago when i was 24 i had the opportunity to meet the Russian bear. My hand disappeared in Alexanders as we shook hands.

I'd heard stories of Mr. Karelin from my father who was himself a national level freestyle wrestler. Watching Bane from DC Comics reminded me of him.

If you train like him, you are going be a cripple or die. He was like Brock Lesnar but bigger stronger . Undefeated for forever and a day

Imagine being strong enough to pick up and toss a 280 lbs man

Zercher deadlift 200kgx10. An enormous show of overall general strength. Not surprising he could grab a 300# mass of muscle and reverse flip him against his will while he'd struggle to resist. Amazing tough guy.

He actually had to cut down to 290lbs for competition he was upwards of 310-320lbs and was actually taller in his prime stood 6"4-6"5. He could do over 52 consecutive pullups/chin ups at over 300lbs in bodyweight in less than 1 minute!!!. He could deadlift 882lbs for 3 reps raw with ease, bench press a border line world record bench press of 704lbs raw without considerable focused bench press training compared to wr holders, zercher deadlift over 660/661lbs 300kg, run for hours on end with a huge several hundred kg 200kg i.e log on his back in siberian forrest in thigh deep snow, walk on his shoulders faster than a toddler walks, touch a 9ft Chandelior with his size 15/16 shoe raises it straight above his head, and even clean and press over 450lbs for sets of several reps.
