This is what a sitting minister of Maldives, had to say about our Indian Prime Minister. But what exactly happened?
What triggered them to make such a derogatory comment about one of the most powerful leaders in the world?

With this caption, PM Modi posted few pictures of him being in the beaches of Lakshadweep and the hatred started pouring in. But why did a social media post from the Prime Minister of India with the intention of promoting Indian tourism, triggered the people of Maldives? Neither the Prime Minister of India nor any other Indian officials made any kind of reference to Maldives.

All they did was to promote the tourism in Lakshadweep, which is an integral part of India. So where is this hatred, actually coming from?

As a Maldivian I just want to state that we Maldivians are most grateful to India. Its just some irresponsible and young people were given the role of state minister and they made such comments which we all oppose. We are deeply apologetic on their behalf. We welcome all Indians to The Maldives and we are so so so grateful to India for all the help we get. The citizens of Maldives are grateful for India for many things, even though certain parties and corrupt politicans are not. Just wanted to make things clear. Even Indian workers in Maldives know this reality and they are also saddened by how things are going. Hope everything works out again…

I am not surprised at all. We have always always been backstabbed by the people we help.
Nowadays I am more surprised when other countries express gratitude and loyalty towards India.
Except Russia, no other country is our true friend.

Hey Keerthi I’m Maldivian & I’ve been following you for a long time now cuz you always post such informative videos… I loved this video as well but I’m sad that you didn’t post any of the comments thousands of Maldivians posted defending India… I believe every country have their own share of stupid people.. but please know that majority of Maldivians love india and all that you’ve done for us.. I also voted for the current government because corruption was at an all time high and so was the inflation, not because I shared anti-India sentiments. I’m ashamed our government hired such incompetent deputies… we have been calling for their arrests even.
The boycott of Maldives by India is very justified… but please don’t let this affect the relationship between the people of India & Maldives.

It's our Indian government who should really feel shame who doesn't show little interest in developing our nation but funding and development Maldives in every possible way. Once upon a time India showed similar cordiality towards British, and the result is history
