Does Audacity contain spyware? Is it safe to use?

Hey all! In this video we go over the latest controversy with Audacity and the update to their privacy policy about personal data. Muse hasn't owned Audacity for very long at all, and they are already shaking things up for the free and open-source program. I'd expect to see a fork of Audacity very soon.

I never use Audacity online anyway. I've downloaded drum and music tracks onto my hard drive to import into Audacity, but I've never used it online. I suppose if you were a streamer, you would have to though.

Give an inch, they'll take a mile. I was just at a hobby store to buy some brass plate and angle iron to make a small project. $60 bucks later buying stuff half of which I will likely return and bought because I'm not sure if I'll need it, and I notice the receipt says "*** DUE TO COVID 19 *** We are not accepting returns at this time."
