Testing your water can be a pain, especially with lengthy test.. but What do you really need to test and how often? Well.. on a new tank you should be testing every few days until your tank is stable. If you automate your dosing (or weekly water changes are enough) you can get off with a little more of a lazy testing approach. They key to it all is finding that balance and a little automation.

Rich wrote in and asked "Hi Deven, Thanks for posting videos. I have a problem with testing. It is such a pain that I don't really do it anymore. Are there any quick and easy way to test things without paying a lot of money? Thanks, Rich"

So Hanna makes different versions of these testers... DKH COLORIMETER HI772 and PPM COLORIMETER HI755 Is there a particular reason why you choose the ppm? i.e. PPM is more accurate than dKH tester or vice versa. The reason I ask is that all Hanna's tester are the same price for example the PHOSPHATE testers are $49 price in USA but one is LOW RANGE HI713 while the other is ULTRA LOW RANGE HI736 HANNA. Good video btw and Thanks!

I have a question I'm getting a reading of 8.3 dkh on my hanna alk checker but on my salifert test I'm getting almost 10 around 9.8 to be exact how do I know which one is more accurate and which one to go by ? If it was a little bit off I would go with the hanna but since it's a pretty big difference I dont know what to do ? @reefdudes ?
