I don’t normally watch these type of videos but this one was extremely useful it’s actually cheaper buying this foundation kit then it is separately by a huge amount! Thank you!

One tip I picked up by watching Red Sea's "how to" videos on these test kits. For Magnesium, the titration is complete as soon as the liquid turns blue the first time, regardless of whether the liquid changes color afterwards. However, for Calcium, when the liquid first turns blue you should wait and/or shake the solution for 10-20 seconds. If it remains blue, you're done. If the liquid turns back to purple, you should continue to titrate until the solution remains blue.

If you're a chemist and you disagree, please weigh in, as this struck me as a little odd. But that's what the narrator says in the Red Sea YouTube videos, and what Red Sea replied in comments.

Finally, one recommendation for an accessory - a magnetic lab stirrer. This negates the need for the nifty titration handle, but it also speeds up the titration process quite a bit. BRS carries the Hanna magnetic stirrer, now!

ANOTHER TIP: When you get the entire reef foundation kit, never ever lose the measuring spoon for calcium... the refill doesn’t come with it. ☺️

These Red sea test kits are what I use and are very easy to understand. So glad to know that I only need to buy reagents and extra syringes instead of a whole new test kit lol

Is there a call to ensure that when the plunger bottom is at 1ml that the titration solution is at the 0.85ml line like the salifert test kits?

The question you didn’t answer is how to solve the puzzle of getting that all back in the box!

You guys should do a spotlight on the Maxspect Razor X light fixtures

Oh, I’ve been shaking for 60 seconds on the magnesium, not letting it sit, I wonder if that makes a difference

Thanks for the video. I found it helpful, the pause button is my best friend. My daughter (she's the smart one) and I just tested Alkalinity using both the Foundation Pro Ca/KH/Mg and the Marine Care Multi test Kit. We both came up with exactly 50% more Alkalinity using the Marine Care Kit than the Foundation Pro Kit. Both were low. One says 7 and the other says 3.5 We both did it twice. Almost seems like we've read one of them incorrectly, as in backwards but it's highly unlikely given her aptitude for biological science, which is why I brought her into the picture. Are these kits really that far apart as far as accuracy goes or are we misreading something? Yes, we get the inverse amount used part.

Do a video on how to connect the radion lights and the ecotech MPs to the reef link,
Please.

Nano skimmer showdown pls..

Specifically the new IceCap K1-Nano Protein Skimmer. The Reef Glass skimmer would be good too.

Am i the only one who is confused about the fact that when he draws liquid into the syringe there is a air pocket by the plunger? Does that not mean that he technically doesn't draw a full 1ml? Does that not throw off ur reading? And can you put the reagent left over back in the bottle to use next time or is the reagent contaminated now?

Hi Ryan, do you know if Red Sea sell the vials for testing??
I've broke 2 little bottles of the 3 test kits I have :-(

Wait. So does the liquid level have to be at 1ml exactly or does the black part have to be there? Because there always seems to be a gap of air between the liquid and the rubber gasket on all three syringes

A couple tips- the syringe graduations wear away very fast. Wrap them in a layer of packing tape to preserve them. To keep track of magnesium reagent a drops i just set a timer to 1:40 each drop takes ~5 seconds+ 15 seconds of swirling. 0:20x5=1:40.

Anyone else have particles floating around in their magnesium and calcium titrants?

You talked about two different ALK tests and colors. The first you discussed that the Alk turns from Green to Yellow and the second you talk about How it turns to Blue. I have the second color changing. Is there a new test as you describe in the first method?
