For the record, we as Protestants don’t deny that Mary is the mother of God. Also, I agree that her role is to show us how to love God and Jesus more. Her actions in the gospels absolutely reflect a God fearing woman

Mother Mary is a core reason I choose to stay in the catholic faith. As a Mother I know the love she must have for her son Jesus Christ. She prays for us to love Jesus unconditionally.

It's an abomination to God to worship any other image, statue, or idol besides God. Mary was just a mean for God's son to be born in the flesh. That was her only role. Jesus Christ himself said we should love God above all things with all of our hearts, all of soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength. No one else deserves such reverence but God almighty!

John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Matthew 16:16-18
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
When Jesus said upon this rock I will build my church; He wasn’t talking about Peter. In Verse 17 He told Peter He was blessed because His Father revealed who He was to Peter and not flesh and blood. If Mary is the one drawing you you’re in idolatry because she is not God. God the Father is the one who reveals His Son to men.
When You all talk about Peter being the rock you need to take that in context with all of God.
1 Peter 2:5-6
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
All true believers are rocks. There were 12 chosen and Jesus Christ is the Chief Apostle. Peter isn’t the “sturdy rock.” Jesus alone is different than all others. He is the only one who can be trusted not to make mistakes.

You worship Jesus and talk about his mother. If you love your husband you aren't always talking about Linda and how Linda raised such a great husband for you and God bless Linda. You talk to and about him.

She's feels like a "god before" Jesus the way Catholics talk about her, and through her. Like, he's behind her. Like she's a gatekeeper to her son.

I DO NOT say that to be hurtful or accusational. I just don't get it. I'm genuinely confused on how you can't see that is not really ok how she is such a focus.
