The people who made that tweet deserve to get hated on. Just because the guy painted his house a rainbow (and it isn't even related to LGBTQ+) doesn't mean he should be updating his house colors to what others want.

The original pride flag, in my opinion, stood as better example of harmony due to the colours. They’re ambiguous. No colour on the rainbow flag is representative of a single person or sexuality or race or anything but the fact that all these colours stand together shows a harmony regardless of what “colour” they’re painted with. It also helps that a rainbow is a natural phenomenon, it’s something that we can see it resonates with people. Where as the new pride flag feels like it was made to check boxes.

Something similar hapened to me. I was wearing a rainbow shirt and some random girl on the street came up to me and congratulated me for being so honest about my sexuality. I told her I just like rainbows and that I'm straight, she called me homophobic because "I don't support the lgbt flag" and left. Excuse me?

When I see stuff like this I feel glad that I live in a country where if you have rainbow colored stuff it remains just something that's rainbow colored and people don't automatically assume that you are part of the lgbt community.

Fun fact, before I moved I had a neighbor that got fed up with the Homeowners Association and they wanted him to paint the house. One day he had enough so he painted each board on the house a different color.

They left him alone after that.

As a flag nerd, I consider the “progressive” pride flag (or imperial pride flag if you’d prefer) to be an atrocity. It’s ugly as sin and the triangle shape makes it looks like trans and black people are attempting to conquer the LGBT movement. While some parts of the internet might find that unfathomably based, I’m not sure that’s impression you want your symbol of diversity and inclusion to give off.

Side note: “folx” is an unnecessary word made up to seem more inclusive (“folks” is already gender neutral).
Don’t pay much attention to people who use it, they’re probably more concerned with their own image than the communities they claim to support.

As a member of the LGBT community, I get annoyed sometimes when people label traditional rainbows as exclusively lgbt.
Rainbows represent the gay pride flag, but that doesn’t mean all rainbows represent it. You can draw a rainbow and it doesn’t have to be LGBT related and just be the traditional rainbow

Honestly, as a gay person, I genuinely hope that the 'progressive' flag will someday be forgotten about. It's atrocious. I'm sorry, but being as respectful as I can, having a colour to represent poc (basically any non-white person) on a flag meant to represent SEXUALITY is so disgusting. Not only is this taking away from the actual meaning behind the flag, it also is very invasive and basically says that gay white people do not deserve to be included in pride as much as any other gay person of a different race. The fact that the old flag already represented universal equality and the "new" flag has the universal symbol being overtaken by colors representing specific groups reminds me of a line from an old book.

Man’s told them that it wasn’t the pride flag he painted but a regular rainbow and the NPCs all collectively malfunctioned. Let that sink in: you can’t even have a rainbow anymore without them thinking you’re associating it with that community.

Before anyone decides to write their opinions before getting clarification from me of my original comment here, what I wrote was in reference to what that organization said and the folks who agreed with them on it. They made a false comparison of what that man’s true intentions were before confirming what his goal was. I in no way wrote what I did in the hopes of tryin to cause a divide between folks (even tho some here took it that way). I had explained in this thread with some folks how colors can represent different meanings as well as symbolize different things to different cultures. I wasn’t saying this was representative of that community altogether. Only holding people like that organization accountable for what they said. Hopefully that clears things up and folks can stop taking this comment out of context. Also, this isn’t any admission of wrongdoing on my part. I only spoke the truth and I’ll still have this belief no matter who writes in this section.

even if it was meant to be a pride flag nobody cares lmao, as a gay "poc" im gonna tell you right now that a fair amount of us think the black and brown lines are an awful design trait, the rainbow flag was ALREADY inclusive-
"every color together" and all that, it represents ALL OF US

and even if it wasnt, people use "outdated" flags all the time.

hell, I've seen some people use the flag with the pink stripe from THE 70S (which personally is my favorite lgbt flag lol)

As someone who is lgbt, even if they painted the house in the lgbt flag, the one they used is completely fine, just because it doesn't have trans or black colours on it, doesn't mean it excludes them. Also, it would've looked ugly on a house 💀💀
