you shift to late if you want the most out of it. This is noticable on "top speed" test. The car struggled after around 4300rpm, when you shift from 4 to 5 you can see how much better it accelerates.
You get 150KS at 3500rpm, so unless you're in 6th gear there is no point in going over 4000rpm, you just loose time.

Still didn't get the chance to drive this bad boy, but even 1.6 110ks tdi I drove is good enough for Golf, so I can only imagine. Very robust car with a "clean" view and access to controls unlike most of the compact cars.

Is that the same engine they put in the 2015 US version of Golf (the EA288)?
