1.33x anamorphic lenses are for shooting on 16:9 sensors. If you're shooting open-gate you want a 1.8x to 2x anamorphic lens, but you will end up cropping the edges off, which is why you may want to shoot in 6K. 1.33x is the same aspect ratio as the LG Ultra-wide 21:9 monitor aspect ratio. When you record in 4K DCI you will get a 17:9 aspect ratio, which is 2.52:1 (22.7:9) aspect ratio, which is good enough.

YES - would like to see a short film. Perhaps with both the 24/35 and the 75 on the same body - BMPCC 4k? :-)

So to clarify, even the full frame versions cover only super 35 sensors and you still have to crop? I'm looking at the lmount versions but that bit of resolution loss is a shame.

If they wont change the glass to fit FF sensors the only point I see of releasing FF versions is to spare you from isong glassless mount adapters, so I guess that's the point right?

Nice video as always Ryan. Even the prices for those lenses are anamorphic lol. And would we like a short film? Hmm.. yeah I think it’s been a while lol

Besides Clear Image zoom, did you have to do anything special in setup to shoot with these? Did you use external monitor for desqueeze?

Hey have you done any test with the Meike cine lens?

So is the 24mm horizontal field of view equivalent to an 18mm wide angle or is that taken into account?

How did you make it fit the whole screen on youtube

got a used GH4 last month, just ordered a gimbal for it since the camera got non stabilization and I used an Nikkor adaptor for it with an old beat up used Samyang 85mm f1.4!the footage is decent but the out of focus is not nice even with an nd filter on it!the 75mm used here is pretty close to what I want to use overall!

Growing up in the video world vs film, we were always chasing a “film look”. That never really was viable until digital cinema came along with the Canon 5Dmrkii. Now, we have an even playing field with the film world. Affordable anamorphic lenses seem to a near end game piece of the puzzle. Flares? Meh. Good wide aspect ratio 👍🏼. Manual focus haters? 😂 that’s all I had “growing up”. Love fast eye tracking AF, but rocking a manual lens is second nature for me. My big question to resolve is what focal length to get.

Is the sony autofocus working with the lenses ? Instead you have to go full manual focus i guess ?

Hey man, awesome video but quick question... if I wanted the full frame equivalence of roughly 35 and 85mm lenses, would you go with the 24mm over the 35 since you have to crop in with the clear image zoom making it sort of like a 35mm lens anyways?

Anamorphic loses resolution as well. Squeezing the frame and then stretching it does the same thing.

Anamorphic essentially introduces imperfections and distortions.
