Defiantly taking breaking and enjoying life is good way to have a balanced life.
Especially as a Developer.

I'm a composer (of the music type) who struggles with putting things off, and this video is perfect for helping me structure my day! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the advice Stef.
I went through full adrenal burnout as a result of working full-time as a carpenter, volunteering at a hospital and studying a biomedical degree after work.
You feel like working extra hard will make life better, but it can end in a medical disaster. If you experience the warning signs of extreme fatigue, just stop and take a break would be my advice, especially as there is a definite threshold to what the human body can endure. 4 years later and I still have the effects of adrenal fatigue, albeit better than when it first occurred :)

Much respect for you Stefan. I like watching your channel and get an idea of other development aspects besides code. Thanks

Thank you Stefan, I am in my early 20's and I take your approach to coding, in that I like to break it up in chunks throughout the day, while still enjoying my other crafts such as playing guitar. I often feel discouraged and overwhelmed when I see my peers who code for 10 hours straight every day. This video helped me put things into perspective and realize that in the long run I am doing things the correct way. Thank you for another great video sir.

enjoy developing and enjoy life. i have burned out before and it's not worth the extra money. try different workout routines like shorter workouts but more frequent. a good method that used to work for me was workout every other morning and alternate. ie. monday i ran, pushups wednesday, friday run, sunday pushups. try to stretch 3 times a day (morning, a little after lunch and evening, and walk a bit.

Good advice. I'll add one thing, for people who can control their own schedule—ie not employees.

Structure your day in sync with your personal daily rhythm—simply, whether your a morning or evening person. Do your most demanding work when you're most 'alive'.

Also brain solves the problem at rest.. While working you load it with data, and processes it at rest, than at next session you say "I've an idea".. Yeah you have, it was baked when you were walking, sleeping..

I think the most important thing is building a routine(!), i.e. I personally have 2 modes (early/late rise) but one has to be consistent. Don't really do the second mode anymore tho
i.e. 1) a) wake up early, do all the MUST(!) work for the day in the morning b) all etc and c)evening just for with colleagues/friends/exchange of ideas/gossip and etc
or 2) a) wake up late - b) train - c) communications/meetings etc d) studying/videos/etc as above and then e) work all night long till super late and REPEAT
1 day off computer/work/etc completely -- somewhere out with people
1 day of the week really good sleep if having not enough sleep during the week

my daily coding routine is literally looking for shit to code. made a whole data structure collection library in C, even including a plugin system, made language runtime virtual machines, made a scripting language and an interpreter for it, made a pong game with SDL, made a chess engine, made too much shit in pure C code.

Can you make a video where you explain why you dont code anymore?

Yea there has been a lot of times where I force myself to study and work on code with a burned out mind, only to learn nothing and basically just fumble around in front of my computer. 3-4 hours is definitely the sweet spot when It comes to focusing on programming.

5:02 Yes it helps and thanks a lot but, what if break time is not a break like playing some games which are doing some destruction but it's using the brain more and more .. do you as Stefan consider this as a break .. would like to hear from you more about break quality as you said you drive in those places to clear your mind .. which is calm and healthy ..
