Is the Block Wars Point Multiplier Bad?

After Block Wars 14, some people on the Block Wars Reddit gave their feedback on the point multiplier for Block Wars Series 3. The consensus from Reddit seems to be that it's worse than before, so I decided to analyze why that may be the case and offer a potential solution! #blockwars

Personal opinion: structure the points multiplier in an exponential fashion. Something like 1x, 1.05x, 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.3x, 1.45x, 1.65x, 2x. The main issue I could see with this is the overall confusion in having "weird" numbers for multipliers compared to a clean 1.25x, 1.5x etc but honestly I think this is the "ideal" scoring distribution
Edit: something along the lines of 1x, 1.05x, 1.15x, 1.25x, 1.4x, 1.55x, 1.75x, 2.25x could be another option if you wanted a bigger comeback factor

The potential BW15 multiplier looks very promising imo.

My main problem with the current one is that the voting just *feels* insegnificant (even though mathematically its not). It just makes the game order feel stale. Like yeah it was nice to see OrderUp and TombTitans not be played 2nd and 4th instead of 1st and 2nd, but in the end, it really didnt matter because every game is just a 1x.

I would also like to say that once you have a bigger game roster (like 11 games for example) I wouldnt be oposed to having a 9 game roster with 1 game being skipped so that the game order feels even more different, but thats a topic for another day

I like the PB multiplier best out of all the main events.

I understand that this is an opinion video, but I definitely would have loved to see more weighing of options. For example, when addressing how "Only a third of your score was determined by the first half when using the old multiplier", weighing the pros (= more excitiong for viewers to allow to a comeback potential) vs the cons (= unfair to teams who do well early on).

In my opinion, the MCC multiplier is the ideal option (I am biased of course). I believe the value of 'fairness' is not as important as the value of 'entertainment'.

I Love Wolfeei Mogul Mail

I was going to say that even if this multiplier structure is overall better than for BW Series 2, the players might not perceive it as such because "oh were 7th/8th at half time, no point in trying anymore", but you said it as well and I completely agree

The concept multiplier for BW15 seems overall balanced, if "comeback potential" is one of the bigger factors, that is... Im intrigued to see how its works if it goes past balancing...

I really like the BW15 potential multiplier but the only change I would potentially make to it is making game 2 a 1.1 times multiplier just so game one is worth the least at of all the games because I feel it is more comprehensible that each game scales in multiplier and not a just after a couple of games, but I also think that the BW15 would still be a great improvement if it was to be implemented without change.

I can’t wait to see what new game things happen!

I’ll say what I’ve said before about this: I’m usually not a big fan of the big multipliers at the end (like it was in series 2), and I think it’s a good thing the earlier games matter more than they do in other events. It also makes it that teams get screwed less by the game order.

Just saying that this comment is not serious. Every game, random multiplier >:) 😂 Chaos 🔥

The multiplier has fairly little impact on my enjoyment of an event, but if I could ask for some changes, I would like to see more experimentation. Stuff like:

- Instead of a linear or exponential multiplier progression, make it “wavy”, e.g. 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 1.5x, 1.5x (wouldn't want the audience vote for a 1x game), 1x, 1.5x, 2x. This could be interesting from a voting strategy point of view because you suddenly want your worst games to be played 1st and 6th rather than 1st and 2nd.
- Make the game selection random and let players vote on the multiplier instead. This is obviously flawed, you don't want to end up with a game 8 on 1x, but with a random game order this would force people to really think about their confidence in each game mode. Strategic compromises also become important so the 2.5x and 3x factions can make sure the game isn't played as a 1x.
- Remove the global multiplier entirely and let each team choose their own multiplier for each game (in secret), so the team that's best at estimating their own strengths and weaknesses benefits the most. If half the lobby wants Extraction on a high multiplier, someone is bound to get punished for it because you can't have 4 teams winning 6/7 or 7/7 rounds.
- Let the multiplier be determined by performance in the previous game rather than any sort of choice. The bottom x teams (unmultiplied) in a game get a multiplier for the next game. Last place gets a higher multiplier than second to last and so on. You get immediate comeback potential and a mechanic that drastically changes voting behaviour.

If you *really* want players to venture off the beaten path, take all these and any other ideas you can come up with, mix and match them and do something new every event. I know that's probably too much effort on the development side of things, but I'm just here to come up with silly feedback and I think there are a lot of valid ideas you can take from all this stuff, even if you wouldn't want to implement any of these suggestions in its entirety.
Ultimately, I think the main issue that causes the stale game order is in the players' mentality towards different games. Order Up is scary because it's a fairly complex game so it has to go early, while Extraction is easy to understand, which is a large part of why they save it for last.

Honestly i like the bw multiplier as of now but the new one you suggested sounds good. I want teams to be able to comeback but if they cameback from getting last in games 1 to 5 but get 1st in all the multiplied games to make final is bad the only way that is fair is if they had generational performance for those games.
