How to fix a car window that automatically goes up then down halfway (Honda Civic)

If your car window has an automatic up function but goes back down halfway after it goes up, a possible cause for this is that there is two much friction on the window (this is probably a safety feature in case someone has their fingers or hand in the way). The fix is super simple. It just needs to be cleaned and/or lubricated to reduce the friction

This fixed it for me. I had scheduled to bring it in to the dealer and you just saved me time and money. Thank you also for getting straight to the point and not needlessly padding your video with a 5 minute backstory.

Thank you so much! It’s like 40° outside right now and the window wouldn’t stay rolled up and there’s no way I could afford to take it to the shop right now. But this trick worked perfectly. You’re a lifesaver!

My friend, you just saved me a whole bunch of worry about diagnosing an electrical problem with my windows. The lube did the trick.
Thanks, and keep up the good work bud!!!👍🏻✌️

I watched a bunch of videos on how to reset the power window switch, luckily I saw yours before I attempted that. It didn't make sense to me that my windows did it sporadically. If the power switch needed resetting then it should do it every time I roll up the windows...so I kept looking. I went out and bought a can of silicon spray and VOILA! it works perfectly. I'm sure than if there is some dirt or other obstruction in the track the safety system thinks someone's head/arm/animal is in the way a reverses down. Adding the silicon not only lubed the track but also cleared out any obstructions, no matter how small.

Thanks for this great tip!

Thanks mate from Kiwi Fred! Told dear wife who says thanks. Unfortunately her Funcargo Toyota has no power to the windows. 20Amp fuse ok & swapped with 20A above.
Thanks from NZ. Fred 😊

Thak you so much. This just happened on a road trip on my 2021 toyota sienna. I tried resetting, but it didn't work. I watched your video and after a few ups and downs with some pressure on the window I git it to stay up. Thanks, Julie
