I am 65 and had this surgery on my left knee 10 weeks ago. I was discharged from the hospital the next day because I was able to walk with the aid of a walker besides great pain. I was not lazy to do the PT and was able to walk without even a cane two weeks later. I was recovering everyday until the 5th week, the numbness on the outside of the knee and parts of the sole, swelling and the pain.... all remain the same thereafter. I can now bend my knee to around 105 degree with some effort and I was told the goal is 120 degree, not 145 degree like a normal person. I can walk reasonably normal although not too fast or for more than 20 minutes. The pain is manageable with pain killer. Although my doctor said I am doing very well, I know for a fact that some people will never completely recover. Two weeks ago I played some badminton and took it very easy. Still my knee would kill me for the next few days. I just hope that I recover to 75 % within one year and forget about going back to the soccer field or a ball court.
ps You need a leg to support your recovery for a few weeks so try not to do both knees at the same time. I am glad I did not.

Wife just undergone this surgery on 22 Aug morning in Singapore. On 23 Aug morning she was already walking unaided in front of the orthopedic surgeon. Such is the advancement in total knee replacement.

Very good !@ but I feel by making holes in bone how much chances of bone breakage ? When you make a hoke where is tge dust of bone ? Isn't bone inside get damaged inside of the bone is living ? and get a chance of infection ? How can you take precise size of your knee implant as I have narrow and small knee at 66 as compared to my siblings who have broad and big knee ? Is there any TKR technique which retains all the ligaments with special kind of implants ? What is the most recent implants co for metal allergic patients ?Is there customized kned fit size implants available in yhe market after measuring knee of individual?plz do reply ? Waiting plz
