Bronze - You've caught every pokemon you've seen eg. you haven't seen zigzagoon but you could come across it.

Silver - You've caught every pokemon possible with the equipment on hand eg. No old rod so you can't get magikarp

Gold - You've caught them all without having the national dex eg. you've got all the ones the game made available so far

Platinum - You've caught all the ones that will ever be in the area

These are some very good videos, lots of learning on my end. I'm not sure if i'm just "doing it wrong" or what, but i'm having trouble finding ANY of the new National Dex Pokémon with the DexNav. Do I need to just wait for the right shaking grass/dust cloud/water spout to appear and sneak up on it, or can I find them through random encounters? Was looking for the new Pokémon on Route 101 for a good while but didn't find any. I do have the national dex and all that, but i'm pre-Elite 4 atm.

My DexNav for route 110 says that there's a pokemon I can catch with my current equipment that I've seen. But I looked through the list of pokemon specifically trying to find it, and I have all the pokemon I can catch right now. I even looked through my pokedex with no luck. The silhouette is just above Elektrike, and left of Zigzagoon.

When you try to locate a pokemon what are the potential starts mean? If it refers to shiny rate then that's pretty cool!

How can you tell the difference between silver and platinum? Aren't they both grey?

quick question will I need to use other games to obtain the full national dex? or is it possible to get them all in oras. also do I need to catch the pokemon or just encounter it?
