Elite Dangerous has a long and storied history but it is still the best complete space sim. This video is an honest description of the game and as such should encourage more people to give it a try. There is really nothing else like it out there.

It is not too late to start. It is better, more convenient than it was in 2016 when I stopped playing it.

I restarted in 2022, as a casual, it took (me) almost exactly one year to unlock/achieve 90% of what you can, and get to Triple Elite, and do all kinds of game loops. But it doesn't end there, because there is always something to do, if you can set new goals for yourself.

So if Fdev stays afloat, we probably have a couple more years ahead of us, plenty for everyone to try everything in the game.

If you have a VR headset and want your mind blown, then playing this in VR will accomplish that mission! There isn't ANYTHING out there that compares to it.

The older that I've gotten, the more I've taken to photography within Elite Dangerous as a hobby. You don't need to grind to have a good time. Additionally, with years into the game, helping others is easy, and makes their experience so much more enjoyable. So many obstacles in the game can be mitigated with some help from a friend.

Its basically not a game, but a alternate reality for space nerds who want something different that a ordinary game. It has a learning wall, no learning curve. You forgot to mention that is has one of the best creative and gifted community of players ever. The amount and geniusitty of 3rd party apps and websites existing astounds me every time I use them to control the vast amount of data in this game. Its a galaxy in full scale, millions parts are missing. You can place any game loop in it with full detail. Realistically we will never get what we want from this game, maybe its impossible, because everyone expects and prefers different game loops and the resources are too limited to add what a mind can imagine. FD was not able to make it interesting to the masses, and therefore its enough to continue running, but not enough to thrive. The alternative way to add interesting stuff would be that FD adds great tools so that the community can fill the galaxy with content and stories. The community did a great job on the data and tools, they would do the same and even better with content.

Yes because elite dangerous has the one thing that no other MMO game of this quality has, a modeled one to one scale of the Milky Way galaxy with billions of stars. The galaxy is billions of years old it is depicted in this game for anybody to explore and map and catalog which at the current pace after 10 years still leaves billions of systems to be visited. So that alone offers new generations of players that want to try their hand at exploration something that no other game out there can do for them in a NASA astronomically correct way.. everything else in the game like combat or aliens, or civilized space life is just icing on the cake. I am currently on the rim exploring and making new discoveries every time I log on looking for clues that may solve the mysteries of the game eventually one day, who doesn’t want the thrill of the challenge of something like that? Remember elite technically can’t really be a dated game because like I said it depicts our galaxy that’s already billions of years old in the best way that’s ever been done. Even the London museum of science used it last year for a big public outreach

I'm still playing on console, everything still works in game, it just doesn't get some of the new content and doesn't sync with online services like inara or edsm anymore

The Squadron I'm in welcomes new members almost daily. Seems there's still a lot of interest in the game. This is one of a few games I'd pay a monthly sub for, but it feels like FDEV is missing out on revenue streams. For example, I went to FDEV's web site hoping to get some merch (t-shirt, hat) and they didn't have a single thing for ED.

I'm in love with this game now more than ever, and I probably have well over 1k hours playing it. There's still so much I haven't done yet, such as mining. Really looking forward to playing this game for many years to come. o7 Commanders!

Thats a fair description of the game. Elite to me is very special and the 1984 original was genre defining and influenced the gaming industry massively. We need elite to survive and channels like yours will help that. o7 commanders
