Why palm oil kills orangutans – an animated short story

Every day, more and more of the rainforest is being destroyed on Sumatra – mainly for palmoil plantations! Who pays the price? The orangutans. They loose their homes and often their lives. Why? For the convenience food and products we consume. The sumatran-orangutan-conservation-programme fights to protect the apes. However, to prevent the orangutans’ extinction, we all must join this fight and avoid palm oil. Please make an informed choice : Only buy palm oil free products!

The companies know there is a movement against palm oil so they list it under alternative names. This makes it very difficult to keep up and also not knowing alternatives without palm oil is another problem.

They are like humans you know. You can bond with them on a deep level. They will trust you, love you, need you. If we lose the animals we will lose everything that makes us Human, because Humans are animals too. We came from the same place all these other lifeforms came back. We all share a common ancestor, we are all family bonded through blood, dna, and history.

The Malaysian palm oil industry is a major source of smallholder economies and has helped bring them and their families out of poverty. Dr Mahathir Mohamad rejected the claim that oil palm cultivation was the main cause of deforestation as it was mainly cultivated in specialized agricultural land. Only 0.4% of the total global agricultural area is used for oil palm cultivation. Palm oil is not only less expensive than soybean or sunflower oil but it requires less soil to produce and provide jobs.

we have our own reserve forest. no one can destroy the reserve forest for the sake of plantation. no need to worry.

The ongoing destruction of our planets rainforests, suppliers of oxygen to all who live on it, in lieu of palm oil plantations will one day come back to haunt us! And then those living will ask 'but why didn't we stop the destruction of our rainforests when we had the chance to'. But by then it'll be way too late and the damage will be irreversible!
